I got tired if waiting fir the right XT to come my way so I picked up a VStrom this weekend. Its very smooth, nice electronics, slipper clutch, shifts nice, tons of torque, unfortunately not much on top but i need to start staying away from triple digits anyway. I can no longer post pics fir some reason it I'd share one. This is my first Suzuki....lol. |

All joking aside, I had to Google it but a real nice looking bike. Did you get the 650 or the 1000?

Congratulations. I test rode the Vstrom 1000 when I was new bike shopping and was impressed. The reason I didn't buy it? TOO much like the Buell, which I am keeping; tons of low down torque, power falls off at 7000 rpm, great suspension and brakes, super comfy. Sound familiar? Enjoy your new ride! |

Yes indeed it is very similar. It even idles quite similar with a nice healthy lope. I had an XB12S but never been on a Uly so can't comment on it, but I believe my 12S had a lot more top end. Hopefully after the break in and I get the M4 on it and dynotuned maybe it will be a little better, after all this is a TL1000 based engine so it should have loads of potential. BTW anyone getting a new Adventure bike might want to get a binding quote from your insurance company. Gieco is classifying Adventure bikes as Sportbikes now. I got hit pretty hard by this. Full coverage on my 4 bikes is $1500 a year now. This, I find< is too excessive so I'll be shopping around and if I can't find anything better I'll be dropping some insurance on a couple and just adding and removing them as needed. If they want to cause financial grief I'll just be a pain in the arse to them. (Message edited by figorvonbuellingham on June 22, 2016) |
