I've still got my Ulysses, but I've just bought a Yamaha MT-01. Has anyone ridden one? |

if I squint, it resembles a tuber ... just without the mass centralization and a few extra pounds looks like it is/was available stateside according to Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamaha_MT-01 or maybe they meant Canada http://bellingham.craigslist.org/mcy/5590095650.ht ml |

Yeah, I came close to buying an MT-01 a couple of times. What's it like to ride? |

I pick it up next Saturday in Estoril, west of Lisbon in Portugal. I live in Lagos, on the soutwest coast, so it will a good ride home in hot weather. It's quite a lot heavier than the Ulysses (245 kg dry versus 193 kg dry), so it's not going to flick about like a Buell, but they do handle as they have the Yamaha R1 forks and brakes and swingarm with fully adjustable rear suspension, too. It produces only 89 bhp at the crank but 111 ft/lb of torque at just 3,750 rpm as you would expect from a 1,670 V-twin. I expect it will be very reliable (it's a Yamaha). |

If I didn't have the S2T and the Vrod I would be on a MT-01. There is one for sale locally. |

Looks nice, 96s2t. Treat yourself to a third bike. I've got three. |

I like the idea of the MT-01, and have always wanted to try one out, but I don't think I could ever buy a bike with the exhaust pipes way up there. Just doesn't make any sense to me... |

You don't notice they're there. |

I reckon the Ulysses would leave the MT-01 for dead at the top end of their respective revs. In mid-range it would be a close call. The MT is surprisingly nimble and feels a lot lighter than it is. In terms of build quality, the MT is tyhe best bike I've had. It's superbly built. Still keeping the Ulysses, though. |
