Recently i noticed oil leak from shifter shaft, so i'm planning to replace the o ring. From i've read on other threads (and if I understood correctly) the o-ring can be removed with or without the primary cover off, replacing the o-ring should be done only with the cover installed. My question is: if i choose to remove the primary cover, should i take advantage of this and also make the fix with a metal plate for the inside of the cover, where the clutch ramp assembly sits? Was the cover redesign over the years or all xb12 are prone to this failure? Thanks! |

The shifter shaft goes through a seal ,there is no o-ring what i know of! From 06 and up the shifter shaft is a bigger diameters ,further are the covers the same. And the later clutch had softer springs. |

For me there are not enough failures of the cover to justify boogering up a good one. I think the failures came from an improperly adjusted clutch. |
