Hey guys, Anyone know a part number or cross reference for the later style TPS that I could pick up locally from an auto parts store? My '06 Ulysses has the TPS that has the tangs oriented at 12 & 6 o'clock (roughly), it also has the red dot on it. There's a service bulletin about the change to the TPS. It says the new Buell p/n is: P0279.3AA https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2798449/B062A-263608.pdf Besides Harley, it looks like the guys from American Sport Bike have it, their pic matches my TPS exactly, but it seems a bit spendy, the American Sport Bike part number is: 17492 http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-prodshow/17492.html I haven't found a definitive answer on part numbers that cross reference to the later style TPS used on some '06 and the '07 bikes. This pic of my throttle body shows the matching pins sticking out of the top and bottom of the shaft, you can just make out the one pin at the 12 o'clock and the other one at the 6 o/clock position. Thanks, as far as I can tell, the TPS from the '93 Mustang, the Duralast TPS213, and all of the others listed won't work on my '06. Online searching shows the TPS213 look like this. Note the tangs are not oriented at 6 & 12 when installed on the bike and the tangs do not line up with the bolt holes:  The others in the list look like this:  My TPS looks like this:  Close up, you can see the tangs at the 12 & 6 o'clock positions (when installed), and also the tangs line up with the bolt holes top to bottom:  | ||

Are the tangs the spinny bit? And are they spring loaded? If yes, and no, then where they happened to be when they shot those pictures doesn't mean anything. | ||

i have an 06 and bought the 93 mustang TPS...worked like a charm...but my pins are at 9 and 3 o'clock | ||

The red dot signifies the newer unit.(07) The 06 pin is in line with the butterfly, the 07 is perpendicular to the butterfly. The late build 06's had the 07 sensor and throttle body shaft. I ran into this issue selling the TB shafts so I had to modify them to fit both years. So the 07 part should work for you. | ||

Thanks everyone for chiming in and for the pics and info 1313 and Tootal, they show and explain what I was trying to get across, but in a better way. And Reepicheep, good question regarding the tangs; the round inner assembly that they are molded into is spring loaded, so the pics accurately show the orientation of the tangs. | ||

So, I guess no one has a cheaper Ford/GM/BMW TPS that cross references to this Buell/Harley part number: P0279.3AA? Bummer. I was hoping to find it locally for a quick install and to save a few bucks. The good news is that it is available from American Sport Bike, part #: 17492, so perhaps I will have to be patient and order it from them. Plus it would be good to give a little business to a company that is supporting us. Thanks guys. -Ed | ||

Al is a great part for HD parts, far better than my local dealers are, and pretty much the same price as far as I can tell. HD is the one making most of the profits. I've never regretted sending American Sport Bike money, I only wish it was him making the fat part of the margin instead of HD, he's the one working hard to give me such great service. | ||

I ended up ordering the 17492 (P0279.3AA) part from Al at American Sport Bike. Placed the order this afternoon, rec'd emails, it shipped already, It should be here sometime later next week. It's great to have those guys supporting us. -Ed | ||

if it was me...i would have ordered a shaft from tootal instead...that way you could run the autozone part...that...and if your shaft hasn't snapped in half yet...it may be going to happen anyways | ||

Since I'm not a paid advertiser I don't promote the shafts unless someone is talking about having a broken one. For future reference- couldn't you make a metal adapter plate to bolt to the throttle body that would reposition the AutoZone type TPS to align with the new style shaft? Thin, flat plate, one hole through the center for the shaft, two holes to match the bolt holes in the throttle body, two holes 90 degrees from those to bolt the TPS to. | ||

couldn't you make a metal adapter plate Ha, I thought the same thing when I needed a new TPS! I almost designed an adapter to build for myself, was too busy so ended up purchasing the correct TPS. | ||

The issue there is that the pins are not 90 degrees from each other. I've forgotten what I figured they were but it's written down at work, somewhere, in a notebook. If you designed enough adjustment into the thin plate you could make it work. | ||

Hi, this thread has been a great help (after the event) as I bought an 06 TPS for an 05 bike (genuine Buell part) so at least I know why it didn’t fit. Anyhow, I made an adapter but I still have an issue. Either on or off the bike, I can only get the TPS to read 72% open through ECMSpy. I measured the resistance at WOT and it’s 0.33k. Does anyone know what resistance a good one reads when fully open? I haven’t checked there 5.0v onto the sensor yet but the battery is fully charged on a tender. Any help gratefully received |
