92,000 miles and the load took it's annual dump. My race ECM finally got to the point where it was about to leave me sitting for good so while it's off being revived (maybe?) I picked up a stock one and relocated that mofo as far down as it's possible to get. What a production! As I'm going to reset the TPS to see how it goes one of the throttle cables goes POP! and that was the end of that. This old heap is so overdue for a complete refurb that it's not funny but I'm doing my best to hit 100,000 miles before the motor gets rotated down. Wish me luck, I'm going to need it! |

Go Gadget Go!!!! I'm at 36k or so on the Uly, 28k on the 1125R AND 600 on the RS. Uly just got fresh oil & filter, 1125R is in pieces growing to 1190. RS goes on the Dyno in the next week or two. Dig in ... |

At 69,000 I replaced the pistons, cyls, cams, head hardware, and throttle cables, but not because I had to. I wanted MOAR POWA. Wasn't planning on replacing the throttle cables but I broke them when I rotated the motor. Other things I replaced- rear output seal, front fork seals and oil, and front tire. Feels like a whole new bike. |

Luck has NOTHING to do with it. A bike is a electro/ mechanical device and the more you use it, the worse it is treated the shorter its life will be. 100K miles on a bike. I sooooo wish!!!!!!! |

I'm starting to get the parts together for the big refurb. Seat and ECM are done, now it's throttle cables, muffler, muffler clamps and complete gasket kit and then I can see what's making it guzzle oil. Get that squared away and then have it repainted and spiffed up a little bit. It's been a good bike so it deserves a second life. I was so proud of it when it was new so I want to regain the feeling again. |

Guzzling oil is likely the stock black valve seals if they've never been changed. Look at the rear head in my "Big Ugly's Big Build" thread and you'll see what kind of buildup it causes. The later orange seals or Cometic seals are much better. |

Makes you wonder if some of the 2007 crank failures weren't related to carbon build up, related to bad seals. My combustion chambers were becomming quite the mess by the time I pulled them and sent them to Pammy at about 30k miles. Did the black seals correspond with the 2007 spike (over 2006) crank failures? |
