so...attempt #4 I'm going to count as a win. I cut 4" off the back...completely removed the center pipe...added a flat back...drilled a BUNCH of holes in the right internal pipe ...added a 3" front exit...and to make it so as not to have to cut my chin fairing i did away with the front strap and instead added one fixed L bracket and one removable L bracket for where the strap used to be...Packed the entire cavity with 45 Stainless steel scrubbers...and zipped it all up. to do away with any further rust issues i decided to plate the pipe with Dull Nickel....which will never rust and has the extra bonus of matching the Ulysses wheel and rear section colors to a T. Bike runs fantastic with this pipe...no flat spots...no backfiring although i do plan on getting the bike tunned after the ice melts

Erik Buell would have designed that muffler outlet longer to double as a bike stand or a bong. By the way Ray, what is that black cover thingy adjacent to the timing cover? Can we have a closeup of that. I use the stainless scrubbers to quickly get the eggs off my pans and I've found the cheap ones will rust and fall apart whereas the more expensive ones last way longer because they don't rust. Bottom line is, not all those stainless steel scrubbers are made of the same grade or type of stainless. Chances are you didn't get the higher priced scrubbers since you used 45 of them. If you have anymore of them, check to see if they react to a magnet. Hopefully not. |

I just checked by more expensive scrubbers and they are magnetic stainless also. They don't rust and disintegrate. They eventually fall apart but last a long time in comparison to the ones that must not be a very good grade of stainless. Nothing lasts forever either way. |

I checked the scrubbers in the plating bath before using them to make sure they wouldn't dissolve...and they too would have been plated with dull nickel so i'm hoping they last a while |

Ray, Hopefully you don't test those sliders too often if ever. As for the scrubbers, it does seem that they should last for a goodly amount of miles. |

Rayycc1: do use those as a pair of 'forward pegs' as it were for another foot position on longer mileage days? |

I have used them as another foot position ...but its not at all comfortable...or easy to find them when riding |

Is your seat redone? Who did the work? I like it. |

I don't think it is redone...i believe it to be the stock low seat... the bike also came with the 06 tall seat |
