My existing cracked ECM has part number: Y0152.1AM 08030

I was given an ECM from a dealer with part number: Y0152.1AMA 10232 that they say is compatible.

Does anyone know if in fact that is true? Also the dealer said that it needs to be programmed. Does that mean I need to take it to the dealer off the bike to get programmed or can I plug it in and ride?

Any advice is appreciated
Thanks in advance.

i think all you have to do is plug it in and do a tps reset then ride.

This is the big unknown in this case. That same ECM is used on all the 2008-2010 variants of XB9, XB12, and even the 1125s. If it is programmed for an 1125, you are not going to be able to get far with it. It needs to be one programmed for a 2008 or 2009 XB12.

You have two options, first is to bring the ECM to the dealer and have them flash it (not sure if they need the bike too).

Second option is to flash it yourself, but it requires an ECM interface cable, TunerPro RT software, and a EEPROM (which I can email you). It can be a bit tricky especially if you never done it before, but it would save a trip to a dealer.

Another option is to purchase a Race ECM from EBR, which will work and improve upon how the bike runs.
