Sorry Ray, I didn't realize that. You might try loosening the tps screws and turning the sensor clockwise and retightening the screws. Then do a cold tps to get it to run. If it runs better then do a hot reset. I did read of one guy that said his bike ran better with a cold reset though most of us prefer a hot one. Make sure your shaft isn't cracked or the butterfly loose. Reset the tps sensor and try it. Just spit balling here. |

I remember reading on this site about how well this guy's ULY runs with a cold reset but was not able to find it with a search. It would be easier to do a cold reset than a hot one.
After an engine rotation on my son's 07 I made the mistake of leaving a paper towel in the throttle body throat and naturally the towel got sucked through the engine. I didn't notice this happening because the air box cover was on but part of the paper was still caught on butterfly valve and not allowing the valve to shut. The interactive exhaust valve was going absolutely nuts, opening and closing and the engine responding to this was not good. I took the airbox cover off and saw a wad of paper towel caught on the butterfly and so I removed it. I also noticed the rest of burnt towel that had blown out the muffler onto the garage floor. Apparently no harm done though. Bike ran good after that but ended up changing the oil and doing a hot TPS reset and the bike ran fine. |

well....i managed to get the bike running by manually holding the throttle open....after it was warm i did another tps reset then again had to hold the throttle open to run the bike....after a few minutes the bike idled on its own....right around 1050 rpm....until i grabbed the throttle....then it revved fine...but as soon as i let go...the bike died again.
So it seems the bike runs fine everywhere except idle and just off idle. I'm out of ideas here....NO CODES showing. I cant think of anything else to do but swap out the tps and pray. Autozone says they will have one for me in the morning.....i guess we will see..... |

If the tps sensor doesn't fix it check for an intake leak. Leaks can vary as the engine warms and cools, could drive you crazy! If it's leaking then I'd take it out, clean it, put in the shaft and get some new manifold seals. |

Sorry about the thread jack, but he asked.
My muffler has been and always will be rusty. The breather spooge dripping has no affect that rain water or washing wouldn't do.
These pictures are after running 180 miles on a superslab yesterday at speeds averaging above 80, a few moments above 100 mph, for the first 150 miles. That was done with my fan not functioning, and occasionally hitting SS.
You can see that the end of the hose is wet, but the muffler is not only dry, but has no tracks left by post hose spooge drip. It is like this on short rides also. I have not seen a time where it has ever not evaporated it off. |

Strangest Damn thing I've seen on this bike yet.I put a new TPS on the bike.....but I'm not sure that was the problem....here's what happened...
Installed new tps....zeroed it and tried to start the bike....bike again would not idle on its own for a few minutes....then....the bike was changing the idle between 1500-3000rpm...I said screw it and took it for a ride.....the bike ran like shit for about two miles....then the idle went up to 4000rpm and everything started smoothing out......back to the garage and dropped the idle to 1050....took her out for another ride and honestly.....I don't think it's ever run so good....
So in the end.....I'm thinking all of my problems were from trying to do a cold tps zero?????? Don't know for sure....but |

Warm works best...I know it always has for my '06.
You can test your TPS if you have a multimeter with a needle-display (not digital). Set it for resistance, hook the probes to the ground and signal leads. Rotate the sensor. Your needle should sweep smoothly up and down. If it jumps, hiccups, or drops...dead spot on the TPS. If you get a clean sweep...sensor is fine and the bike is possessed 
And I'm sorry...the thread title (and progress) reminds me of an old USMC buddy of my dad's.

Well Ray, I hope that's the end of it. Getting that bottom screw in the sensor is a bitch! Glad to hear it running well. |

Its running great now....maybe better than ever...I did take the time to reroute the breather hoses...and i also took the time to read the manual and adjust the interactive exhaust valve....not sure that was working properly before either .....shes idling perfect ...no hiccups....pulls the front wheel on command... Damn these bikes are fun |
