Yeah, I wish I would be more into shining up my bike but never seem to get into that. The inside of the engine must be clean though because it always seems to run good.

Wash or Ride? Wash or Ride. I usually go for the ride myself. Just to get off topic.

Mine's a mess too. Now I have funky headlights. Low beam went out but my high was good so I kept riding with the high beam. Got home and replaced the low beam. Turned on the low beam and now it works but when I turn on the high beam the parking light comes on but no high beam!! I checked the "faulty" low beam bulb and it was good! I'm smelling a ground problem...

It figures, the Harley's almost back together and the Buell screws up and we are having the best Summer weather that I've ever seen and I'm bike less!!

Tootal,
Read my 7:25 pm post above about the 4 pin terminal and clean it up. May not do anything for your parking light problem but that may be the faulty low beam problem. You might have two separate unrelated issues.

I figured out the problem and the problem is me!

I had turned on the lights and thought I saw the right one work with the brights on so I changed the left bulb, which was good. So basically I did nothing! When in dimmed mode the parking light comes on. That's when I remembered the parking light always stays on with the dim. I pulled the right side bulb out and it was blown. Found some corrosion at the rivet that holds the blade. This caused a lot of resistance and it started getting hot, it actually melted the connector on that blade. The wire going to that blade had melted the insulation about a half inch back! I put in a new bulb and put some dielectric grease on the blades, connector and bare wire. I'll fix the wire later as it's covered by the large rubber cover anyway. Back together and all is well. After I had the light on for 5 minutes I checked for any heat on the connector and it was fine. Going to enjoy a ride to work in this perfect weather tomorrow!

If it ain't one thing it's another. Glad you got it figured out.

I've never had a bike like the Ulysses. Working on my other bikes always made me want to get rid of them but not so with these ULYs. Seems like one or another of us die hard Buell riders always figures out how to make these bikes just a little bit better than stock. I imagine when the AX is released and if it really is an improvement then there might be a big exodus. I'll most likely keep our two ULYs no matter what.

Well I rode to work this morning but the bike was handling really bad. I know my front tire needs replaced but it seemed worse than just that. I know how sensitive these bikes are to air pressure so I figured since it's been sitting it's just a little low. I let the tires cool and checked pressure. Well the rear had 5 pounds! Gee, that will do it! I couldn't find a nail or a leak and it seems to be holding air so it must be really slow. I'm thinking I see a new set of PR4's in my future!

My headlight works though!

5 psi??? Glad you checked that before too long, could have had bad results.

It's very strange. Bike only sat for two weeks. It seemed fine when I parked it. I filled it with 38 psi and at the end of the work day it still had 38 psi. Rode it home from work and it was back to it's playful self instead of acting like the State Police's Drunk simulator! If you ever want to experience riding a dirt bike in the sand just let the air out of the tires!!
