I have the zero gravity touring windshield. Is he palmer adjustable mounts worth it? Is there a noticeable wind reduction? | ||

I'm very happy with my Palmer mounts but pretty much any of this big screen stuff will add to the Uly wobbles. I'm contemplating a track day at the end of the summer so will remove the screen/handguards/luggage. For the summer I'll be enjoying the west coast of Ireland at lower speeds with all the comfort stuff fitted. It's great that the bike can do both. | ||

I have the Palmer brackets and their tall windshield and will recommend the brackets as well made. However, my bike was purchased used and had no windscreen at all so I had nothing to compare to. Yes, it was a lot better than nothing. Since the above statement has little value in regards to your actual question, I would like to suggest another option. Have you considered a set of Memphis Shades wind deflectors? I installed a set some time after the installation of the brackets/windscreen and it made a huge difference. Before you make a decision, have you determined where the objectionable wind is coming from? Over the top of the windshield or from underneath over the airbox? With the Palmer set up and Memphis Shades, I can ride comfortably with my visor up at 70 plus. Yes, a little blows over the top but it is not bad. What was blasting me was what was coming from underneath the windshield and over the air box. This was hitting me in the abdomen, blowing up and lifting my helmet at speed. The Memphis shades did not eliminate the condition but greatly reduced it to an acceptable level. I'm not in a position to prove it but would bet that if what is coming under the windscreen is what is currently bothering you, the Palmer brackets and your current windshield would not provide the result you are looking for. hey Hoover, unfortunately i'm not able to be near the bike for a few months so I cannot determine where the turbulence is coming from. I like the idea of the memphis shades. I'ev just been on there site and I'm not sure what i'm looking at other than it is the lowers. There is not a buell application listed on there, can you tell me which one is it I need? | ||

The Palmer brackets lift the screen by about 3.5" at the highest setting and push it forward by about 3". My main aim was to reduce buffeting and wind noise so that I could listen to GPS instructions and radio inside a noisy(ish) Givi helmet. I have the Palmer medium screen fitted but found that while pressure was relieved from the chest area I still got a lot of buffeting around the head. I've since fitted a Puig deflector to the top of the screen. This has improved things to such an extent that I can hear the radio clearly at a 70-80mph cruise. I'm just over 6ft tall and have the tall seat fitted to my bike. I can feel the wind coming under the fairing and hitting me in the stomach but can't say that I've noticed it lifting my helmet. On the whole I find long distance cruising less tiring with this set-up but tend to drop the screen when running around twisty roads or in town. | ||

Hello Advoutlander, The numbers below are what I purchased. You will find several posts on this site that provide these numbers and offer testimonials. I suggest you look for other opinions on this mod as well. These are not specific to the Uly but they do fit. Seems like I had to grind a bit off one edge of the deflectors to get a good fit against the fork tubes. Used a belt sander clamped to my work bench. It worked well and does not look hacked. Since they do require some screwing around, plan on a few hours to get the best fit. Simond has some good info also but for me the solution required two components that seem to work well together. deflector part number MEP5810 Bracket part numbers = MEM9890 Good luck | ||

@Advoutlander: I have been running with no screen for a couple of months, because of issues with high-speed wobbling and turbulence around the helmet when riding with the Palmer brackets and ZG high windscreen. I even tried mounting a laminar lip on top of it, which reduced the issues somewhat, but not enough to make me comfortable. For slowish touring or early/late season riding, they are good, but they take away the soul of the bike, imo. | ||

I have them, and they were a big improvement over stock. I still get a little buffeting when my shield is up, but when it's down, it's super smooth. It does take a lot of trial and error to get it right though. | ||

Michael I have the Palmer brackets on my Uly with the XT touring w/s. You are welcome to take it for a little ride to see how it feels. A also put some dense foam between the flyscreen and w/s, kills the wind blast to the chest. Zack | ||
