I took my Uly on a 1500 mile trip from SoCal to western New Mexico. That's my brother's VStrom in the foreground. Bike ran great, no problems, 50mpg.

Nice! Good hearing about a trip where uly does not miss a beat. We definitely want to check out n.m. hate to say it but between summers in Mn and living in Colorado we miss Fla less and less.

Nice ride! I love New Mexico, used to live there, so many great places to see and ride. I'm looking forward to taking my Uly there this fall as part of a big Western Tour with my wife....as long as I can get the electrics sorted out!
And, the V-Strom has the personality of a food processor, the Buell, well...there is a bit of good vibes in there.

Next time you come to NM, ping me ahead of time; be glad to put you folks up for a night. Even though I don't own the '06 Uly any more...

By the way, the hottest part of the ride was about 105 degrees, and the bike was fine as far as engine and exhaust heat. I have the comfort kit and some thermal reflective material installed. Much better than the FJR1300 I had, the tank got so hot on that bike it would give me first degree burns.

Doc, where do you live?

Albuquerque, very close to the intersection of I-40 and I-25. As soon as I get over this "mystery" digestive ailment...down to 144 lbs and still dropping...
