So, had the season's first three wheeled course in MN this weekend, and guess what? Had yet another sidecar student show up wearing a Buell jacket! I believe this is the fifth or sixth one I've had in my classes and I'm trying to figure out what the connection is. This student rode a hacked beemer airhead...sweet rig, and also had a tuber. He was aware of the Badweb but not much of a poster here. Maybe the Buell/hack connection has something to do with the fact that most of us that own Buells at this stage of the game tend to be mechanically inclined (or are lucky enough to have a spouse/buddy that is). If not, we may go broke visiting a dealer for every little thing. Most of my sidecar students share the wrench-on-your-own-rig trait, and are amazingly knowledgeable about their rigs. Hey, us Buell riders just like different things. I really enjoy my Buells, but riding my beemer/hack is a hoot! Everybody waves and stops to talk when I'm driving the hack. Plus the grandkids love it. And if they fall asleep, they are still safe! | ||

That equalean looks like it would be a blast, especially for the monkey! But, I wouldn't kick the Guzzi or the Buell rigs out of the driveway if they showed up either. There's definitely some truth to the theory of Buell riders finding "different" appealing. Same with riding a sidecar. "Plus the grandkids love it. And if they fall asleep, they are still safe!" That's one of the best things about a sidecar...toting the kids and/or the hound around. And if you want, you can have creature comforts. I've even seen rigs that have reclining seats, a/c and power outlets so if you need to give incentive for that special someone to tag along, maybe those things will help. The hack realm also seems to be small-world, or maybe tight knit. The Ural riding guy in my class said he bought his rig in Fort Collins. "Fort Collins, Colorado?" I asked. "Yep" he answered. I told him we have been at that dealership drooling over Urals and there was a good chance I had seen his there before because that was where I lived. Weird, but in a good way. Ural also paid the tuition for his class. I like companies that do that because it shows they are not just concerned with the sale, but they want to put safe riders on the street. | ||

Rode to St. Croix Ural in New Richmond, WI on Saturday to test ride a Ural. David, a factory rep has a passion for them like we do for Buells. http://www.imz-ural.com/demo-tour.html Takes some getting use to but the 2 wheel drive would work in the snow and the wife likes it. If I only had an extra $15,000. | ||

After teaching a three wheeled class in the rain this past weekend experiencing the stability of a hack in poor weather and having a hoot drifting it in standing water I am really jonesing for a hack. I think it would be ideal for our summertime needs in Mn and we could use it year round in Colorado. | ||

Sidecars=Weird Buell=Weird It's pretty simple! Stuuuupid question- what's a hack? Always thought sidecars were neat, but don't know jack about them. | ||

Sir- hack is just another term for sidecars. They are also called rigs. I agree with your theory of buellers and sidecar pilots being weird. Some of us-myself included-are a little out there. |
