Yeah, BOTH cylinders at once!

Scenario: 97deg F out, riding up through traffic in Hayward, CA. Fully geared up. (ATGATT). Low on gas - fuel light on, about 7 miles since the light came on.

Bike caughs and dies. About 1/8th mile from the Chevron. Up a slight grade.

Ohhhh-Kayyyyy. Get off, push the bike up to the station, figure I may have vaporized the last bit of gas in the bike, as it was low.

Get to Chevron, top it up (took 3.5gal) and nothing. Turns over, but wont start. Noticed that the fuel pump was not priming. Hmmmmmmm....

Parked the bike, went to the Auto Parts store- got some more mini-blade fuses. Swapped the Fuel Pump fuse and BINGO- back in action.

Did some internet research and found that this is a slightly common issue. And that there is a SPARE fuse on these things. In any case, I carry a bunch more spares now.

Seems like when these bikes get warm and are low on fuel, they can pop that fuse. I will carry spares and fill up a little earlier when it's hot out.

It's happened to me also. I was actually pulling into the gas station when it quit.

Yeah, the pumps use the fuel to cool themselves down. Some have solved the issue by putting a slightly higher rated fuse.
Some have had it get gradually worse til a new pump was needed.

so did yours have a spare in there? if so, what did that feel like having pushed uphill in 97f?
sorry but I know about nearly DE-hydrating on the side of I90, 95F 90% humidity, being passed by 100's of Harleys headed to Sturgis.

Well, pushing a Uly in isn't so bad if the ground is level (it wasn't) and if it is not too hot out (it was). They roll OK, but NOT uphill!

I think the bikes came stock with an unused slot, for a spare fuse. I just bought a few extras, so I would be extra covered.

I thought about a 15amp in there, but up-fusing is generally a poor idea and I'd rather pop a fuse than short the fuel pump, seeing as how it's BATHED in gas.

NO ONE can EVER say the Ulysses isn't an adventure bike! Actually, ALL BUELLS are adventure bikes!
