Ummm..... Anybody ever had a cam sensor melt? Looks like the silicone is dripping.... I'll try to post a pic in a few.

It could fail to a short I suppose. There are a couple compounds on that cam sensor as I recall, silicone potting (that once cured won't melt), and some kind of sticky tar stuff that was drippy on all of mine (good and bad) as well.

Hard to tell from the picture, is it "gone" gone? Or just sagging? Any problems with the bike running?

Yes, hard idle, throttle response lag, occasional misfire/backfire.... just replaced the throttle cables and did a TPS reset and now while it warms at idle the RPM's jump up to 3000 for 5-10 secs then come back down and repeat... went to check the timing, saw it was a little advanced and then I found this...

Its toast! Anytime any of that starts dripping or running its gone. Surprised more dont die due to uelly heat. My 96 road king had one of that kind with bas built in, and when it started running issues, i found that unit in that condition. Replace quick or put a load ramp in back of youre best friends truck. Just saying.

I asked the same thing a couple of years on here about my gooey cps ... some forum members said it was all good so I didn't change it.

It hasn't failed yet.

When did the idle problem start?
Before or after replacing the throttle cables?

Engine must be @ operating temperature when doing TPS reset.

Teeps,
Can't recall who posted but not too long ago someone claimed they started doing cold tps resets and his bike ran better than ever.

That wasn't my experience, the first time I reset TPS.
Engine does not stay cold for long and as we know, everything moves when heated...

EG,
You should try and report back.... :-)

Stall / backfire is a dying CPS symptom.

Said it once and will again? Get a lead and ecm-spy or TunerPro. On a 06 bike the cost of the lead will cover the cost of a HD TPS reset anyway. After that it is, as they say, all "gravy".

And it may not be just one problem either. And you can time the 06 bikes with it and many other things as well. THE best $50 you can spend on a XB bar NONE.

Yeah, got an ecm spy and started digging into things, did a hot tos reset at 140 Celsius cause it's in German lol... Then progressed to the timing check and saw the sensor.... It is an 06 btw...

default languauge is german...to change this,
push in the Navigation "Konfiguration" than "Programm"
an extra window appears where u can change the "Sprache" language from "Deutsch" in to "english"

(I plagiarized this from another post on the WWW)

That was me that started the *lively* thread on cold TPS resets. A Buell trained factory tech chimed in and said that's how they were trained and some other factory techniques. The engine warming factored in and temp sensors take care of the rest. I posted a YouTube link to a video of how it ran after that.... starts with me taking off with my hand off the throttle and running thru the gears shifting at 2k rpm, then slowly going up and holding at the most complained about stuttering rpms. Then I did my other 2 the same. I've had a most pleasant Uly life since then!! There are lots of mechanical wear factors and Buell wiring gremlins and one could get good just as good results from a different method, this just solved MY problems.

Welcome back to texas Danair! Hope you enjoy the roads out that way. Pretty nice area.
Wanted to ask, had you added any timing to youre tables, bottom left empty 6 boxes, for two rows. Also what degrees had you wound up with for the tps setting after youre cold tps reset? Curious as to that.
