I've got my new 2" drop pegs from Precision Engineering, but for the life of me I can't get the old pegs off! I've taken the little C-clip off the bottom nub, and I assume the bolt should just come out the top. But it won't budge. Not even with a hammer or a prying tool. Is the spring holding it tight, or is it just years of crud or corrosion? WD-40 didn't help. What am I missing? I've done some searching here and around the internet, but haven't found a how-to. |

Work at it. Apply steady upward pressure on the pin and wiggle/hinge twist the peg to free the pin. It'll go, just don't beat on it with a crescent-hammer and mushroom the end. |

I worked at it...it was really gummed up in there, so it did take a TON of hammering from below, using a regular hammer, squirts of WD-40, and then hammering in the other direction (from the top) to work it through in the opposite direction so the lube could do its job. I had to use a nail setting punch to push the peg through the rest of the way. Hey, it's a 2006 Uly...it's seen a lot. Change is hard! Thank you, Nillaice, for the reassurance that that stupid peg would eventually come out! Can't wait for a good ride on lowered pegs tomorrow! |
