Hi everyone! I just picked up an 06 with 15 k. So far I love it. It is the perfect bike for these rough Louisiana roads. I always wanted one, now I got one. I have an 83 Shovelhead, an 86 Electra Glide and do all my own maintenance. I traded a Warrior. |

Welcome. I have had my Uly for a few years and still get a grin on my face when I ride it. Hopefully you will like yours as much as I have liked mine. |

Welcome, that Uly is going to feel like a luxury rocket ship compared to that other classic iron...I've had mine about a year now, its become the bike of choice, I'm finding that the HD is collecting a lot of dust I still miss my shovelhead 1979 FXS Lowrider, it was my first street bike back in the early 80's..... |

Congrats on the new uly and you are certainly in the right place for doing you're own maintenance! REALLY! Enjoy and holler if you need to ask anything. |

"It is the perfect bike for these rough Louisiana roads". This is a good point and one of this bikes greatest advantages. Once set up the Uly will ride over the roughest roads without drama. I myself have hit some huge holes and the bike never even went off direction. Something that would have scared the crap out of me on past bikes. I think the bike has near perfect, front dive is easy fixed, suspension and on top of all that it is fully adjustable and it LASTS as well. |

Thanks everyone! I have put about 200 miles on the bike and it is everything I hoped for. I set the suspension this morning and did a little preventative maintenance , ie oil tire pressure etc. so far I am impressed with how well thought out this bike us. Took the wife out and she loves this bike too. It will take some getting used too riding two up but solo I am railing around corners and having a blast. I have always wanted a Buell and am glad this is my first one |

The Ulysses is the "pick-up truck" of motorcycles. It does everything perfectly well. except now, it has no front brake pads. Gotta ride the 1125R instead. Z |

I think that this, my X anyway, is a great bike and most of the problems/issues are outside the design of the bike itself. Ok some of the design points were improved on but few were a real problem but people need to understand that this was a BRAND NEW design bike and NOT some sort of re-worked "parts bin" Jap bike. In other words you may have some issues. The other thing is that many bikers are "brand loyal". I have seen it many a time. It is a HD, Honda, other or the highway. And while many makers make good bikes not all are good. What you get from your "brand" is not about the maker but about the relationship with your dealer and the maker IE If that is bad then the service will be bad. Which most of the time in the UK it was. What you then get (with this bike) is a bike, with the past tuber history, that few want to buy/trust or understand because of the new design etc. The fact is that there is nothing wrong with this bike, if it is working as designed, and while the seat may not fit some, the screen may not be good for all or can it do 150 mph nothing is (or will ever be) perfect for all. How crap would that be? |

Glad you like it. If it doesn't handle with the wife on the back, the suspension may need setting to take account of the extra weight. As I can't be bothered playing around with it I don't take passengers. On the one time I took a mate from north London to southeast London to pick his Tiger up I bike handled like a pig. Footnote. I am not suggesting your wife is a big girl. |
