Did intake seals and injector O-rings on my 06 and 07. 1st one no big diff in how it ran. 2nd one I did the tps reset cold. It ran sweet! Let 1st one sit overnight and did it again cold. What a change. Both bikes are smooth with no trouble rpm ranges whatsoever. After the ecm learning cruise they were even smoother. Rode both all day and couldn't be happier. "Just how do you know" is here. Also found the reason snapping throttle closed is in the manual (later post). YMMV I know this is not the "way" but it certainly worked for me. I guess my questions would be: Why do we always say to set the tps with the engine fully warmed up? Why is Donair getting good cold engine TPS reset results? Sure would be easier to TPS reset with the engine cold. |

I don't know why TPS reset temp would matter, other than for the reset of the idle speed at the end. Maybe you could argue to get all throttle parts up to temp and mated as they are when hot, but I would think that is a very slight difference compared to making sure the throttle is tightly closed by twisting the grip slightly beyond natural closed position. Certainly, I did not do the reset hot when I swapped to my EBR ECM, since I did not run the bike. I then just ran the bike and fine tuned the idle when hot. It wasn't far off, since I had recorded the idle TPS voltage setting before I replaced the stock ECM and did the TPS reset. |

The TPS is a digital value derived from a voltage conversion (which could change over temps) of a voltage across a potentiometer (which could change with temps) representing relative mechanical positions of things (which could change over temperature). Individually the errors should be small, but they could stack up, and since most of the time a running bike will be at running temps, might as well do the calibration there. |

And that is why I am a MECHANICAL engineer. Damn electrons and their temperature sensitivity... |

I've done a lot hot ones, and I' sure not going to diss where the technique came from or who uses it...and I'm certainly not saying this is "the way" lots of great tips here that are street learned. All I can say is this worked better than any I have done. On both bikes. The manual does not say to do it hot. It says set it and warm to operating temp and set idle. I know there will be a lot of feedback on this and I'm all for good ideas. Gonna do a gopro in a couple of hours to show how well it worked "for me" I can take off in 1st without touching the throttle and upshift to 3rd no gas, hold 1500 rpm in any gear. Shift at 2000 and just row thru them all and roll it on in 5th at 1500 and it pulls like a train. On the freeway I can actually use the lollipops at 80. Not a single hiccup or dead spot in the entire rpm range. I think you will like what you see, especially those with "special" bikes. |

For what it's worth, I've always done the TPS reset on a cold engine. The manuals say nothing about doing it on a hot engine and we were trained to do it on cold engines as well. |

I've always done my X1's on a cold engine and never had any problem ....set it cold and then adjust idle when hot. If you changed a throttle body or an ecu chances are the engine would be cold anyway and you'd need to set it before even starting the engine . |

Here's a crude vid. Need an external mic for the wind noise.... another uploading. You'll get the idea how smooth and controllable it is now. Better vid tomorrow capturing that wicked cool Uly howl. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYvs0r9XikM and this one that I can't get to hyperlink, but its there http://youtu.be/v-EcvPNHVaQ (Message edited by danair on September 04, 2013) (Message edited by danair on September 04, 2013) (Message edited by danair on September 04, 2013) (Message edited by danair on September 04, 2013) |

It is just my opinion but I would say that this bike is running perfect for a 06 bike. |

I am stoked. Found out by accident about idle takeoff. Hand slipped off clutch and off we went. It couldnt have cared less. |
