This is the second stator I have put on my '07 Uly since I purchased it used several years ago. The last time I replaced it I removed the 77 connector and installed a aftermarket VR wired straight to the battery (fused of course). This one failed fairly slowly over six months. In the end all three legs were continuous to ground. As some have pointed out on this forum, the diagnosis could have been very simple. The transmission oil smelled really bad ... my women came into the garage while I was working and complained about the smell . Two observations upon repair: 1) It appears burned towards the top side (see pictures), where it wasn't sitting in the oil. 2) The connector was soaked with what appeared to be oil (I wish I would have snapped pictures). I don't know how oil got in there, unless it somehow wicked up through the wires from the stator, or positive pressure pushed it. Anyway, my bike is running much better now, I didn't realize low voltage levels were effecting it until I fixed the stator.

Hopefully, you got it from American Sport Bike. Al includes a very detailed note regarding rotor bolts hitting some of the new -A stators. Saved my butt because I bought mine from a dealer on a Sunday. Don't know if its been mentioned here before.
