Just picked up a 2009 XT with only 26xx miles saturday. Are there any special things I need to do or add to it other than miles ? Im planning a prevenative oil change / primary change /brake fluid flush and clutch adjustment for this weekend if all goes well. |

Make sure to re-locate the ECM or otherwise protect its connectors under the seat. many running problems have been caused by the seat pan flexing and stressing them. A TPS calibration is super easy: with the bike off, put the run/stop switch in run, turn the key to "on", then cycle the throttle from full shut to full open 3 times, pausing about a second in each position. I had a "problem" with the transmission vent hose routing. It was in contact with the rear exhaust header and burned through. It doesn't affect operation, but can allow introduction of water to the primary and transmission. I had to rotate the engine and take the starter out to get to the barb fitting because none of my fingers or tools would fit in there to get the hose clamp off. |

Hadnt even thought about the ECM -I will be doing that for sure ! How often does the TPS need to be calibrated ? KNow on my 9R its a dealership thing , so, reading this process is great news. The breather does not sound like fun - hope I dont have to mess wiht that ! |

Never, it is self calibrating on 08+ models. Check the New Owner FAQ section, it has answers to most of the things you haven't asked about yet. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/442053.html?1238017122 |
