A few days ago I noticed my speedo needle fluctuating while I was riding at a steady speed. Then it pretty much quit working. I figured the speed sensor was bad and called Al at American Sport Bike to order a new one. He asked me if I had an EBR ecm, told him I did. He said to install the factory ecm and see if it fixed the problem. I did and the speedo works fine. On 08+ bikes the signal goes from the sensor, thru the ecm then to the speedo. Prior to that the signal went from the sensor to the speedo. Apparently there is a problem with some EBR ecm's. Anybody else heard of this? |

That is so weird. Have you contacted EBR? |

Not yet, want to ride some more to be sure it's not the speed sensor. |

You can clean the VSS too. Sometimes it picks up metal wear shavings and that will make it not work. The VSS is located behind the front pulley cover |

Interesting. Easy enough to reroute the signal I suppose, provided the outputs of the sensor and the inputs to the speedo are still compatible. |

mine has been doing the same thing for over 6 months, it will be fine for a little bit, but definitely on long rides, it just goes to zero and stays there...gives me the speed error code....mine is the 1125 though, apparently there have been quite a few issues with that too (Message edited by monstergirl on August 19, 2013) |
