I am soon to order replacement parts for my dead charging system on my 09 from the Roadstercycle.com site. I am pretty familiar with the removal of the primary gears, clutch, etc. I was wondering if there were any secrets, special tools, or parts that were not reusable that i might somehow be skipping, before I delve into it. Experts please weigh in... |

I believe the small bolts that secure the stator to the engine cases are one-use bolts, so you should order replacements for those. The crankshaft bolt is a one-use item as well. The only trick I've seen on stator replacement is to apply some RTV silicone to the rubber plug on the stator wires before pushing it into the hole in the back of the primary case; that helps prevent oil leaks from this location. |

Question on the crankshaft bolt; since it is a one-use item, and nobody has them in stock, and American Sport Bike is forbidden to carry them, does anyone see a problem with using a high grade, similarly shouldered bolt from a local specialty shop? With loc tite, of course... |
