Bought my '08 X back in April with the intention of using it around town and occasional commute.
Then I started reading this forum and how many guys (and gals) tour on their bikes. "Hmmmm, I have a trip to St. Louis coming up July." So completes the transformation. I leave next week.

Looks good Karl! What are you coming to St. Louis for? If you have time for a beer let me know, I know every brewery in town! |

Looks great! The Wolfman tank bags work perfectly and help block a lot of wind. |

I have a '63 Chevy Nova and have been on a listserve since '99. We get together once a year this year we are meeting in St Louis. Actually a little south, I'll be in Pevely Wednesday and Thursday nights then we move to Cape Giradeau Friday and Saturday. We are going to a local track near Cape Friday night. I might run the Buell for kicks and giggles. Anyone every drag a Uly? |

Anyone ever drag a Uly? Trying to launch a Uly will be interesting! Keeping the front end down will be tough!! If you're coming across I-70 and need a break around Troy Illinois give me a call if it's after 4:00. I can PM my number if your going that way. |

Come on Luftkoph don't mention pushing. Plan is to spend the night in Columbus on the way out so that route will be I70. I hate the stretch between Washington PA and Wheeling WV and may try to come up with an alternate. I68, I79, WV SR21, US250 looks promising. Might not be enough time. But then again I could stop being a wuss and make the time. Coming home I'm heading through KY via the Western KY/Bluegrass Parkway and I64. Probably spend the night in eastern KY, Ashton or Ironton. Hate the stretch of 64 between Huntington and Charleston so I for sure will be looking for a better road through the mountains. US33 is a nice road, I've ridden parts of it before. I79 is awesome for a big road, except for the cops on every hill. |

But if you don't travel I-64 between Ky. state line and Charlie town you will miss the lovely smell of Nitro W. VA. it always reminds me of my grannies scalloped potatoes. For sure any road off the interstate in WVA is bound to be a good road |

Yeah but I plan on riding the Bluegrass Parkway through Bardstown KY to get the wonderful smell of the Makersmark distillery. You have not lived till you smell whiskey being made. |

Be careful in Ohio, they are really strict on speed! A friend of mine got a ticket for TWO over the limit! Just crazy! I'll PM my number in case you need any help or you end up needing a break. Have a great ride! |

Franklin Furnace Inn was a pretty decent motel for $50 per night (two twin beds). A dive for sure, but a reasonably clean and functional one. We stayed there to take the dirt bikes up to hanging rock, we will definitely stay there again for both street rides and dirt rides. It's right here... https://maps.google.com/maps?q=+ironton,+oh&hl=en& ll=38.62273,-82.844124&spn=0.002188,0.004249&sll=3 8.504856,-82.643538&sspn=0.017463,0.038109&t=h&hne ar=Ironton,+Lawrence,+Ohio&z=18 |

WoW, 2 over in OhighO. Here in Maryland it's 12 over everywhere but residential areas. Thanks for the hotel info Reepi. I have stayed in a Hampton down in Ashton before. Closer to 64. I may just check this place out since I plan on getting off the superslab right about there. A good friend of my wife's is from Ironton. I'll have to ask her about it. |

Ohio cops are pretty strict, but less than 8 over and you generally won't be bothered except on a few speed trap roads (aa highway in KY, route 52 in oh, amberly village on I 75). |
