Is there a trick to getting the PCVs out without rotating the motor down? My front one is making a hell of a mess and they cleverly designed it so you can't just pull it out (unless I'm missing something painfully obvious). | ||

You can get new PCV gaskets in without rotation. Just takes a little gentle nudging, some lubricant and patience. Don't push too hard or you'll crack the plastic valve. | ||

Remove hose. Remove valve. Remove rubber grommet. Every grommet I put in, I put a schmear of hi-temp RTV on the "inside" of the flange where it fits to the rockerbox to help seal it. If you get the permatex with the trimmable cone applicator, trim it to the second step (almost the narrowest), insert it into the groove, put a good band of it all the way around, and install the grommet to the rocker cover. If you want, you can do the same to the PCV valve...but usually they fit nice enough I don't worry about it. | ||

I have not had to do this yet so I am not speaking from experience. I do have a suggestion though. To gain just slightly more clearance between the frame and the engine, pick the front of the bike up by the frame just slightly. This allows the engine to sag down to its lowest position on the front isolator. If you have the bike on the side stand, the stand tends to push up on the engine, since it is mounted to the bottom of the engine. If you need even a little more clearance, support the front of the bike by the frame and then place a jack under the muffler. Remove the front isolator bolt and lower the jack slightly.
