anyone had an issue with sidestand fasteners loosening up? Looks like there is not much clearance to tighten them up properly without taking the muffler off - do you need to take the idler pulley off to take off the muffler? Thanks! |

My sidestand bolts snapped. Others have had them snap and or bend as well. I think you can use extensions and not have to take off the idler pulley, but I did, made it easier. It's a bitch to go through all the work to just to make sure the sidestand is tight! I upgraded to grade 8 bolts, you might think about doing the same thing. |

There was a recall on the '06 Uly side stand. If you're stuck here's what I did years ago. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/370519.html |

I bent my '08 Uly side stand bolts a couple of years back (don't stand on pegs with it down). I was on a road trip at the time. Bought a cheap, very thin box end wrench at the local store and was able to snug up the bolts (twice) during rest of the trip. Got home, took off muffler (bead blasted & painted the rusty thing) and replaced side stand bolts using a generous amount of red locktite. The replacement Buell bolts were grade 8, I heard they upgraded from grade 5. No problems at all since |
