in struggling to put it back on - muffler installed - i don't see that it does anything? i cant seem to find an attachment point other than small center point post on top of the bell crank the cable attaches too... & a hole in the bracket the cable the cable threads into... dean | ||

I'm not sure about this but I think it is an anti-rattle spring. My theory is that it keeps tension on the pivot shaft so it doesn't rattle or vibrate. If left loose without the spring, the wear on the pivot bushings would be accelerated and the looser it gets, the faster it would continue to wear. This may be all wrong though. I'm sure Buell engineers put that weak little spring on there for a reason. I wish one of them would pipe in once in a while on this stuff. Dean, don't give up on it. I know you can do it! Just be sure to hook the bracket end first and then pull the loop over the pivot pin with a long straight wire with a short hook bent on the end. Don't let that wimpy little spring beat you up!  Dean, this is how the system works. The servo opens the valve and the spring returns it and while you may think otherwise that is HOW IT WORKS. | ||

Okay Uly_man, how the heck does it do that? That little spring does not pull on anything that would return the valve, the way I see it. Dean, before you put the spring on, please check to see if the valve returns to its stop without it on there. I am just curious as it has been a while since I had mine apart. Thanks | ||
