I'm looking back at archived posts on here and I see that some folks have tried to fix the Ulysses issue with not having a spark arrestor on the exhaust. I know a few years ago forestry department adapters were available but I could not see that anyone successfully completed fitment. |

I thought the whole deal was that the stock muffler acted as a spark arrestor but was not labeled as such. I think the super scientific test that forestry people apply is to jam a stick in the muffler and verify it bumps into something. |

From what Ive seen in my day muffs are usually marked USFS approved if after market. Im sure the stockers on just about anything are legal. Something like my Drummer, no way. Here In Ca the stick test is, or was how they checked to see if things were modified or gutted. I have a friend who builds V Max exhaust systems and was installing a end cap with screen type insert that was tagged USFS approved. I bet Drummer could get their quiet insert approved as its basically the same thing. |
