If you're talking about reconnecting the brake wire after installing the shock cover there should be no problem. If it's too short then you have the wire going somewhere it shouldn't go. Do you have the instructions that came with the kit or are you just trying to wing it? |

I just installed a comfort kit yesterday on my '06. The brake wire was no problem at all. Just make sure it's routed above the newly installed heat deflector and it should be able to be reconnected easily. |

Ha, your not the first one to forget that little spring. I have heard of people reattaching that little muffler spring without dropping the muffler. I don't know how they did it - I wouldn't have the patience. When I forgot that spring I said "hell with it" and just kept the spring in the toolbox until next time I had the muffler off. |

Dean, I did the same thing when I installed my muffler after having it ceramic coated. I almost cried when I saw the spring on the workbench as I was putting my tools away. I was able to get the spring on but it took a while. If I recall, I hooked the end on the bracket first and then went to the other side and used a stiff piece of wire with a small hook bent on one end. I then reached in and grabbed the loop with the hook and pulled it over the pivot pin. At that point, I used a long thin screwdriver to guide the spring loop down over the pin. Not easy but do-able. Good luck! |

Make that 3 of us that forgot the spring. I think I used a hemostat (medical clamp thingie) and an O-ring hook. It took a WHILE but eventually I held my tongue just right and squinted just the right way and it went on. |

There is a lock tab on each end you have to press, the fuse box lifts straight up. |

I just installed a comfort kit on my '06 recently. The fuse box pops right out. All you have to do is put a flat bladed screwdriver down into one of the two slots and gently release the latch mechanism on one side while pulling up. Once you get one side "unlatched" (without pulling it all the way out) you unlatch the other side in the same way. After both sides are unlatched then gently pull the fuse box up and off the two prongs it's sitting on. You'll figure it out, just take your time and don't force anything. |

Oh yeah, I would use loctite on the hardware they provide to secure the new airscoop. I already had one screw rattle out since my installation. These bikes shake ALOT; loctite is your friend. |
