I own a smart car, and we've been talking about it a lot on the Smart Car forum. IF, and thats a BIG IF, it can get to the states (pass all laws and bs) and still retains the price point it has right now, I'd buy one in a heart beat. I'd love to have a 3 wheeled motor bike type CAR (with roof) I would drive it all year round. |

Helmet laws would suck with this "bike". |

Maybe a dual tire on that rear rim to make it a 4 wheeler. |

No windshield wiper? I wonder if you can roll it over like one of those English threewheelers? I suppose not if the front has the pair of wheels. |

Nice evasion of the question "Is it a car or a bike?" "According to the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) “Motorcycle” means a motor vehicle with motive power having a seat or saddle for the use of the rider and designed to travel on not more than three wheels in contact with the ground.” So if it is less than four wheels it is a motorcycle. But what do you see when you look at the Elio? Fully enclosed, power windows, wiper blades, steering wheel, gas and brake pedals … you be the judge." No. I will not be the judge. Judges are the judge of what laws apply. You can't just unilaterally decide that it's a car and then not wear a helmet. P.S. it does have wipers I guess. Now, does it have heat? Will it get better fuel economy than my 1985 CRXsi? |

It does look pretty cool though. I'll believe it when I see it though. These big car companies don't even want or like anymore competition and make joining their club virtually nigh on impossible. |
