Hi all,

So I have a lead on a sweet deal on an all black seat from an 09 Ulysses, and I'm currently de-orange-ing my 06 Uly, so I really want to pull the trigger on the seat.

However, I wanted to verify that the 09 seat will actually fit on my 06. I know that there were some changes made in 2008 IIRC to include a lower seat, but I don't know if that was merely the height of the padding or if they re-designed the pan/latching mechanism.

Many thanks for any help in the matter!

Ed

Should be the same Mr. Ed. The tall 06 seat was popular with us leggie later model riders as the seats got lower. I have a tall black tall seat (stitching ribs miss the underneath of your legs) I am going to sell. Suspect it is like the one you are getting.

Absolutely confirmed.
I have an '06X and an '09 XT and swap the seats around regularly - exactly the same fit.

Biggest "issue" you may run into going from seat-to-seat (regardless of year) is needing to adjust the lock plunger on the motorcycle. Some seats have a "deeper" latch position than others.

But yes, all the seat pans are the same.

I bought an '06 seat for my '09 Uly. Fit perfect.

If that is a lower seat, put some silly putty on the ECM and it's plugs and check the clearance to the seat underside when sitting on it. If the ECM is in the stock position, you may want to relocate it now like many others have done.

10-4. Seat's on the way. Thanks for the info.

I'll be sure to take a gander at the ecm situation with the new seat...no problems with the current one

I installed a 2006 seat on my 2008 and love it but my ECM was rubbing too.
I dremeled the underside of the seat for clearance.

Mr_ed, I installed the 2006 tall seat on my 08 XT. Both seats rubbed the ECM connector when the seat bottom got hot. The plastic base becomes more flexible when warm and I would be willing to bet yours is rubbing the ECM connectors, just like everyone else's. It will not be very obvious and you really have to look closely to even notice it. If it rubs the connector at all, move your ECM to prevent future issues with it.

The only people that don't seem to have any trouble with this are people that are very light, which I am not. Thanks.

Thanks Motorbike! I'll have to take a closer look. When I read about this issue shortly after getting the bike, I looked down there and didn't see anything wrong, but then I was imagining actual galling of the plastic...I'll take another look.

Heck, probably worth relocating the 'puter just for good measure...
