Today I realized how much I needed a ride. Been working my ass off at work, also doing a lot of gigs with bands I work with, keeping up on the still-new-to-me house...I just haven't been riding. Got up today and the snow that has covered my yard for a week was melting. Fast. Thermometer said well over 60. Nothing has been on a tender...but what the hell. I hit the button on the Uly (still with it's OEM 2006 factory battery) and it fired up. I'm going for a ride! Had a couple errands to run...had to meet a co-worker at a house he's thinking about buying...riding down the road (roads I know well), I saw a brush fire on the mountain and lost focus and nearly missed a turn. I need to ride more. I've forgotten to focus. Too much time in a cage, looking around, pondering scenery...I gotta get out of that habit before I start logging a lot of saddle-time for the season. But DAMN it felt good tossing that ol' Uly around the bends again I also remembered to put the side bags back on, so I could hit the store and get stuff I needed on the way home without needing the cage. hehe |

It's been a few weeks since I rode. Supposed to get up to 38 today with a wintry mix 40%. I've been sick for a couple of days. I've got to get a ride in. (: |

Rode for the first time this season on Saturday. Wife in the rear. It was nearly 2 years that she hadn't been on the saddle - our baby girl was born on October 2011, she just couldn't get into her gear as of May of the same year. Felt so nice ! About 60 miles in the twisties up hill and a short piece of highway. By the way, had the Palmer brackets set up high up and middle position for the slope. Worked marvelously for me. Sleeker mirrors contribute to less turbulences too. Like RatBuell, almost missed a turn out of lack of focus. Same diagnostic: too much caging ! |

Awesome! Good to see you got out there. I did about 60 miles Saturday and got so stiff and sore from the cool damp air movement, that I could not function. Is this part of the aging process or what? Neck, back, elbows, knees, locked up like rusted chain links. I need a day on a beach, sunny, ninety degrees, very slight breeze, giant beach towel, umbrella drink(s), and some SPF 50. |

If this pesky "job" thing didn't keep getting in the way... Besides. The last time you and I did that it was 30 degrees on the infield. Brrrr! |

I hadn't ridden in a couple of weeks. I managed to log about 100 miles yesterday. I rode out to the middle of nowhere to a limestone mine to see if I could see anything of this HUGE dragline they're moving down from PA. I could see the construction, but just barely since it was a mile across the mine site from the entrance (and everything was well-marked "NO TRESSPASSING"). It got up in the low 60's and was sunny which was really nice. I'm ready for spring. |

Vern, You need to ride to Joes' place and follow him to my place in Ocean City. Nice beach and I will put you guys up. Even got some good riding in the area. Might have to wait about a month or two for the water to warm up. SteveH |

Steve, that would be awesome for sure. Thanks for the invitation. I have vacation planned with the better half this year so I need to see what happens time wise. Yeah Joe, that was not an example of Florida's finer hospitality! It seldom got that cold when I lived there. |

I don't know how some of you do it in the snow country. I started riding 40 years ago and I find it still just about the ONLY thing to wash away the headaches and stresses of the daily grind and I cant go more than a week or I begin to have meltdown. I recon a WFO romp on a snow mobile might do, but if you live in the city limits Id imagine that out of the question. |

That's how it's done in MN Dave! We have had a good year so far. And when I say year, I mean 2013 as 2012 sucked for snow! We spent spring break with our Elementary aged daughters last Friday! It was great to get them out, as they dug it! http://youtu.be/r9u9PIJOmvA |

Biffdotorg, looks like you had a great time with your family! I used to do a lot of snowmobiling when I was younger but got sick of making payments on a sled and not using it because most winters in MN suck lately. We just don't seem to have the nice snow like we used too. Do you own all four sleds? I cannot imagine having that many to maintain and put money into for such a short amount of riding time. Plus helmets and gear for four people. Maybe you get more snow up there than we do in SE MN. Thanks for posting. |

We had squat for snow in Nov-Dec, but January, February and March has been one snow storm after another. Saturday, a buddy and I put on 120 miles on trails that had 6-8" of powder on them! That's unusual for central MN this time of year. Sleds are something that I will own if I don't have to make payments. I'm in the same boat, it hurts to pay for something that you can't use. My one exception was the 2007 Phazer I pre-ordered in '06. It intrigued me so much I ordered one. Otherwise, the seasons allow a wise-sledder to buy cheap in the spring, and sell high in the fall. Keep rotating the sleds. I sold my last two 2-strokes for the Apex. So the personal fleet is down to 2, but I store 4 in my garage since we live so close to the trail and have space in the third stall for my buddies 2 sleds. He also lends one to me when my wife decides to come out. We had all the kids out yesterday due to a snow day. It was a warm 25 degree blizzard with 45mph gusts. It's an odd situation where you can't drive to work or school, but if you cover the skin up, it's a blast to play in! They dragged each other up and down the open fields on sleds behind the snowmobile. Reminded me of the time I was their age. Of course they loved nothing better than to take turns dragging the dads through the drifts and weeds too! It won't take more than a week of 40-50 degrees and all this wonderful snow will be gone. Then the Uly will come out.
