So, I have a Buell tank bag for the Uly, but it rides so far forward, that the map pocket isn't very functional. I recently picked up a Google Nexus 7 that I intend to use as a GPS. The plan is to put it in the map pocket and Bluetooth it to my helmet, but I'd like to have an easy view of it as well. Does anyone make a tank bag for the Uly that rides further back on the cover, so that viewing the map window is easier? |

I used a 7" tablet in my XB tank bag once. What I did was leave the front clip undone and lift the map pocket to view what I needed to see then put it down to let the bottom clips and velcro hold it in place and it worked well. The problem I found was the tablet got way to hot in the sun. I ended up buying a RAM mount to place my cell or a tablet up off the bars and it works great to adjust the angle perfectly. Good Luck! |

Check out the Marsee bags. They have several sizes of what I would call "semi-rigid" tank bags that have a tray on top with a lexan (or poly) top that allows you to view your gps. I saw a rather lengthy write-up on them once where someone reviewed them and tried a couple of sizes on the Uly. If I can find the site I'll post a link. I have heard of a few people suggesting that the top compartment might get hot in the sun. I don't have one for my Uly... but i had a Marsee bag on my Strom for 6 years... great product! |

I've always had a glare problem when viewing through clear plastic that's mounted on top of the air box cover. A map under plastic or gps is mostly unreadable because of glare unless you happen to be in shade. This new technology that is supposed come out next year called Google Glass might be something that makes motorcycling really fun or maybe very dangerous. |

I just ordered a 10L... I went to check the dimensions on their website and noticed that they are on clearance for $60 until Feb 28. I don't anticipate trying to use my GPS through the lid... my last tank bag had a flexible plastic map pocked on top and I couldn't read through the glare from that either. For $60 it's worth a shot! |

North of 55. Buying stuff for bikes is fun so enjoy. Just be sure that you don't leave it on your bike unattended as it will probably disappear. |

I had a quick release bag on my last bike... you very quickly get in the habit of zipping it off every time you are going to lose sight of the bike! I'm just looking forward to leaving the tail bag at home when going to work. I find it annoying to undo and re-do the straps every time I get on and off. |

Wolfman and chase harper both have great bags that work. Wolfman has at least 3 modles that work great on the uly. AND Wolfman and Chase Harper are made in the USA!!! I use a 10yr old wolfman and love it. However ram mount is the way to go for GPS. My garmin 550 on a brake res RAM mount is awesome! |

Thanks for the responses.I picked up a Ram mount for the Nexus, I'll give that a shot first. While a couple of the Wolfman bags look like they might work out, I think I'll try it in the Buell bag before I buy a new one. If glare or heat are going to be an issue, no need to buy a new bag. As soon as this friggin snow melts, I'll get the bike out and see how it works out. |
