Just came around a corner, changed gears and nothing just engine revving like I missed the gear. Cycled through all gears and no go. Seems to shift correctly and neutral light shows up between 1st and 2nd. Figure it's a clutch cable but when I pull the cable it feels like the same resistance. Anyone want to chime in who knows or has gone through this? Currently waiting for my AAA tow. 2009 XT 26,000 miles Thanks |

Sounds like when the belt breaks |

Ha! So it is the belt! Dealing with AAA and country road locations, I didn't even look. I wouldn't have thought that anyways because that's a fairly new belt, 10,000 miles? I did the use the old as a spare put a new one on trick. Thanks Pontlee77 Easy fix. |

Al (@ A.S.B.) helped me debug my issues when a very similar thing happened to me last year. I hope your issue isn't the same, but just in case check out the post http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?3842/675482 The post has my symptoms, some troubleshooting, and ultimately my parts list. I never did post pictures of the worn parts though so if I can find them over the next few days I might try to update the post again. My Uly is also an 09XT and had similar miles ... ironically it was originally red too so maybe that has something to do with it (just kidding obviously). Good luck and feel free to fire me a note as I would be happy to discuss further ... to the best that my bad memory will allow. |

Glad it was the belt ... I have a lag with e-mail. That's a much simpler problem to fix. |
