When im riding slow in 2nd or 3rd gear around 30 - 40mph, usually between 2k-3k rpm the bike can feel jerky, once I speed up it goes away, is this a normal characteristic of the bike? |

some times it can be related to the O2 if you have ecmspy try turning it off, and see if it get better. |

Mine does the same. 09. Hopefully will get the EBR ECM and Drummer SS exhaust and all will be right with the world. EDIT: And the XB9 primary. (Message edited by tankhead on February 06, 2013) |

Pretty normal for many. Some report that going to more open airbox ('07) can help. I did that on my '06, but I also changed to XB9 gearing about same time. Definitely smoother now (down to 1500-2000), but cannot say for sure it was from airbox. I did not change my stock ECM back then, but did eventually get an EBR ECM (stock configuration for '06) when my ECM started to act up. Lowering the gearing certainly helped with keeping bike smooth at lower ground speed (say down to 20mph), but that is pretty logical with a 10% gearing reduction. |

My 08 XT does that, even with the EBR ECM. It is not the best bike for cruising around town but is great when under a load. |

I hate to keep preaching spark plugs, but this is a symptom of a plug that has been wet fouled that started firing again. They will run fine under light load mid range, but can cause a slight miss under load, at low end, and at top end. It cost nothing but a little time to check them. If all is good it was other wise a free diagnostic look. It will also get your hands on the plug wires for an extended check for condition and loose ends. And it can let you know which cylinder may be having a problem that may need a further look. |

To some degree this is the nature of the engine. For best results, on the 06 bike, the breather mod helps as does a correct TPS/idle reset. This is a big deal on the 06 bike and can make the world of diff. As does having the engine "run in" which is around 6k miles. But the main thing is you cant run these engines, apart from the 10 and still not the same, like a four cyl at these rev/gear numbers. If in 2nd try reving the engine a little and feeding in the power via clutch slip. In 3rd you should be doing 40 plus anyway and more like 60. You should be able to "feel" what the engine needs and adjust gear/revs/ride style to suit. I had no problem with my 06 bike but it DOES need more low end control due to the way the power comes in. And yes check plugs etc. |

TPS reset could help. |

I had that problem on my stock 2010 XT. EBR ECM cured it. |
