I have been running these for a while now and they very good. They are the modern "slim line" type with 6000K 35w lamps. They are any a little brighter than Halogens but mostly it is the quality of the light. Its very clean and picks out road signs real well even in daylight. They will even cast a shadow at night. Amazing. Very nice, cheap and easy to do. The only "down side" is that they will not "re-strike" if the input volts are low, on starting the bike, so you have to re-start. |

Uly_man, not trying to be disrespectful but I think you left off what Brand they are. Maybe I misunderstood the message being sent. |

I installed a button on mine that drops out the relay firing my HIDs, I hold the button in while starting the bike so that the HIDs won't drop out from the voltage drop due to starting the engine. |

A delay relay will work pretty well also to avoid the "restrike" problem. I put one on my 9sx with the older DDM kit, but the Uly with the newer DDM kit doesn't drop out when the bike starts, so I didn't bother. |

I just put in another switch. This allows me to start the bike without any light on as well as being able to shut the lights off if for some reason I need stealth. |

They will even cast a shadow at night. Sorry it should read daytime, which is just amazing. I did not post the "Brand", as I got them in the UK, but you can buy them anyplace. Mine does not always "drop out" and it might be the "two light" mod I did. Mine is off the side lamp which, thinking on it now, may not be off the starting relay. I may change it to the "soldered switch" type as I did on the 06 bike. I think I prefer it that way. Or as I was thinking, as well, a switch. (Message edited by Uly_man on January 03, 2013) |

I bought an HID kit from American Sport Bike but I'm holding off on installing it after these 're-start' comments. Is the charging of the ballast and hitting the start button 'before' the yellow light goes off the problem? Doesn't charging the ballast occur 'before' the yellow light goes off? If so, I'm good to go. I always wait for the yellow light to go off, indicating the fuel injection has run it's setup, prior to hitting the starter button? I appreciate the heads up and any further input. Thanks. |

I've had a DDM 55w 5k set in the Uly for three years with original set of bulbs, no relays, no extra switches, absolutely no issues. |

Ths. Fordrox. Mine is a 35W kit. Do you hit the starter button as soon as your yellow FI light goes off? I've heard that another 15 sec., or so, is best but that's kind of a drag. |

I put one on the low beam only so as a thought I could switch to hi beam for start to avoid the cycle. |

Buellerxt. I have changed my bike back so it now has the starter relay cutting out the headlight on start up. The HID light is fine now and does not cut out needing a restart of the bike to make the light work. So you should have no problems. Oh and I just turn on and start up the bike. If you want the "two light" mod you will need to do it at the switch. Its fine. |

I thought the Uly had a load share relay where the low beam went out while cranking? |
