Well, with the Uly topping 52k, I started half-assedly looking around for possible replacements. Another Uly? That would have been great, as I have had 2 Ulys since 2007 and have loved every mile. However, while on vacation in Az, I came across a deal I could not pass up. Introducing my new bike.
}}} A leftover 2010 KTM SM-T with 300 miles on the clock. She awaits transport back to Tx. (Message edited by portero72 on December 27, 2012) |

Sweet! I was really interested in that one except they cost twice (or more) as much as a used Uly...enjoy it. Can't wait for a comprehensive ride report. |

Congrats. Looks great. Always good to find a deal you can't pass up. Hope you post some comparison thoughts, and impressions of your new bike. Is the Uly era in your past, or are you keeping it? |

Ourdee- No gear, no time to ride it home. I flew to Az for the holiday with no intention of buying a bike till CL sucked me in. Not to mention that 900 miles of I10 is not the preferred break in method. She will get plenty of miles once back in Tx. |

Arry- I am torn. The KTM and Uly really fill the same role. It would KILL me to sell my Uly. Even if I do, my Buell days are far from over. Initial thoughts- The Buell is immediately more engaging. Or perhaps I am still in love with it. The KTM is much more 'refined'. But I kinda miss the vibes. The KTM runs smoother down low. The Uly has more torque below 3k rpm. After 3k rpm, the KTM is scary fast. For me, anyway. The motor is IMPRESSIVE, and I have yet to surpass 6k rpm. The front brakes on the KTM are much more powerful than the Buell. Gonna need to adjust to it. The KTM, being lighter, feels lighter. But both bikes handle wonderfully. Keep in mind, I probably have only 25 miles under my belt on the SMT so far. |

I wish I could find a leftover 2010 Uly! |

Very nice Portero72. Enjoy. "for the holiday with no intention of buying a bike." Thats how, my XTZ750 was worn out, I ended up on a Buell. I always buy a bike mag to read on the holiday flight and at that time it had a ad for the XB9s on a good offer. Anyway all the other Buells were to small for me so I went for a private, HD were rubbish to deal with, year old 06 Uly. Before buying I did, of course, look into all the "ins and outs" of the bikes and there problems. |

I have a feeling you are going to really like that KTM. Be sure and keep us up to date on the comparison. |

Rcwfrank- I have a similar feeling. I will post a short write up when I get it here, and a few miles under my belt. Merry effing Christmas to me! |

Good times--have fun! I saw a 07 Super Duke advertised, it looks similar to your SM-T. Is the SM-T the new version of the Super Duke? |

Arry- No, the SM-T is its own model, although I believe they share the same engine. Superduke seems to be a naked streetfighter, while the SMT is actually a touring version of their 990 Supermoto. It has longer travel suspension, a bigger seat, and a small fairing. Sorta like going from a Lightning to a Uly. |

Well?? How is it? Get a chance to take her out yet? I've had my eye on the SMT for awhile now (love that thing) but can't justify selling the Uly. Help me out |
