"when a after market jet kit with needles was installed early on, it was not known that the stainless needles that come in the kit to allow for air/ fuel ratio adjustment were like small round files. After as little as 2000 miles or like on mine 10,000 miles the carb nozzles go egg shaped and mileage and performance go all to shit in a few hundred miles." Yep, I had it on one of my bikes. In the end I had to replace all four carbs as you could not buy the parts to fix them. I love FI as well but its not as easy on a bike, and they still have problems, as it is on a car. The control issues are not the same and now that they are starting to use "fly-by-wire" it can be even worse. KTM have had many problems as others. |

So many HD rides are NOT riders. I ain't one of them! My tech used to share my shop to take care of my bikes and worked there on HD's after work at Petersons Miami- he'd have people looking at my ugly Mad Max style FLT and they'd be picking at it- he'd tell them- "you have $100K in your bike and rode it 6500 miles, he's got $6500 in his and rode it 100K miles!" I've also stayed in every type clubhouse with clubs all over Europe, including 81, so nobody gonna think I'm a poser... I rode that FLT all over Europe and former USSR and took care of most of it myself. My favorite carb was a Quiksilver that Vic Edelbrock gave me to try out when they first made big changes to it. I even rode it back to Riverside and had them adjust it for me- from Miami Beach... I had an S&S on it and wasn't into changing jets when I climbed a mountain in Norway. The Quiksilver was easier to adjust. The CV is probably the best one overall for easy no- brainer use. I don't 'see' my Buell like my HD's, it looks like a complicated thing to me. Maybe I'll get used to it, but anything with a plug in computer port is really foreign to me... |

Ferrisanyoneseenferris " I ain't one of them " I was in no way saying you were. HAhahaaa. Just that there are so MANY out there. In all my years of riding I have NEVER had any issues from club riders or any others that matter. Had one guy bitching at me for riding my LC on December 7th. He says WHAT ARE RIDING THAT JAP BIKE ON PEARL HARBOR DAY? I exclaimed, Because my dad fought them hand to hand in WWII and we won so I HAVE the RIGHT! Oh and its freaking paid for and its been riden hard and farther than anything you have ever had your fat ass on! AHhahaaa. He would NOT even look back at me. FREAK HIM! Ride what ya want. Just ride it please and don't ride 25 mph under the speed limit everywhere you go. HAhahaaaa. BDRAG |

My FLT is set up to cruise at 85MPH at 3000RPMs. Benefits of a chain rear drive. Big front and small rear sprockets. HD Fat Boy was supposed to commemorate the year 1990 when HD passed Honda in sales in the USA for the first time since the rebuild, and the bike was named for the bombs dropped on Japan- FAT Man/Little BOY. So the story goes... Agreed there are too many what we call "credit card bikers" who whip out a Visa card, buy the bike and all the junk, and grow a 3 day goatee and all of a sudden they're walking around with their chests puffed our and they look like their lats are exploding. |

Interesting, I always thought it was named that way to describe its primary buyer. |
