I think it is a 1.1 kg/mm Will definitely write up a review of the teardown, rebuild, and test ride. Inverted fork jobs are easier than they look. It's all about patience and cleanliness. |

It was a 1.1kg/mm The fork rebuild is such a great and straight forward job under perfect conditions. Both forks took 2 1/2 hours from jacking the bike to test ride. New OEM bushings, seals, and a driver from american sportbike are 80 bucks shipped. Traxxion springs, spacers, and washers are 120 shipped. The springs are hyperco with a 2nd spacer. They install as such: traxxion spacer, traxxion washer, hyperco spring, OEM white plastic spacer, OEM spacer. Pretty odd, but it went in without a hitch. I used 10W oil to hopefully enhance dampening on my big frame. I just did about 30 panic stops, 2 stand up wheelies, 2 sit down wheelies, and 2 stoppies. Front end feels SO MUCH BETTER. Well worth the 200 bucks. Specialty tools needed: 32mm 6 point deep socket Motion pro fork oil level syringe Graduated cup (I use my 2 stroke mix cup) Small pick (I ground the tip off to prevent nicking fork surface). Finally got to put the bike through some twisties. It was dark, but on a fairly clear road without many blind corners. The bike was FANTASTIC. Nothing like the stock slush. I'm even 5 clicks out on preload up front! I'm maxed on the rear riding solo, guess the rear spring might be next. Total investment including level tool, oil, and measuring cup: 250 Not bad for a transformation! |
