Today, my bike and I went over the 10,000 mile mark for the year.
Only one long trip of 1,100 miles. Mostly daily riding.
Nothing to brag about (I know) but a nice achievement for me and my bike!

Just over 25,000 in 2.5 years. Great bike.

I have that same screen and Palmer bracket set up Lloyd. I like your color accents. Mine is the faster yellow so am wondering how you got color to stick on plastic etc. Any regrets? Thanks.

Krylon fusion paint.
I didnt like that silverish color so I painted the rails and chin guard flat black with the tail red. I was just trying to see if I liked it. This winter Im going to spray the tail with a gun. I touch up the chin guard every time I do an oil change, rails have been fine.
I still have to paint all three bag accents, but not sure if I want them flat or gloss black. ???
I took off the triple tail to paint the hand rails flat black and havent gotten around to putting it back on. I have been using the Kriega 20 Litre tail bag for about 6-7 months eliminating 45 lbs or so. That triple tail weighs something like 7 lbs.
Someone might know the exact total weight of the bags, frame and triple tail better than what I just posted.
Now that my bike is in this paint format, I could never go back. I like it so much better than factory. (IMHO)

My garage has that lived in look!

Lloyd, why did you take the triple tail off? It's so useful. And how does the Kriega luggage perform? I am thinking of buying some. I take it that's the 20 liter pack.

We also removed the triple tail. For a fat old guy with bad knees, the removal makes it easier to mount and dismount.

BTW Love the paint job.

At the time, I was out a lot with my friend who rides a 2011 Multistrada 1200 S. He is a great rider so it was hard to keep up with all the bags and extra weight.

(I cant just rely on ability and my great handling bike when Im on a ride with this guy. Usually I OWN the corners).

Once I got it stripped down, all lean and mean...
I still couldnt keep up.
He is the only guy who can just walk away from me. Its an amazing machine.

Lloyd, Do you ride your XT only on pavement? Have you ridden your friends Ducati? Is it a pavement only bike? Curious about your assessment of the two bikes side by side.

Yes, pavement only.

The Multistrada has the traction control and other electronic settings that make it behave better in off road conditions. The few times we have been out on power line roads and or deep gravel, the Ducati seems to be more capable, controlled and easier to throw around than I feel my ability is on the XT. I am 5'9 so a taller/larger person might find it easier to throw the Buell around off road.
I grew up on dirt bikes and the XT aint no dirt bike
The Ducati is quite capable in those conditions but with the 17 inch front wheel, I dont think you will be doing much more than that.

I love this video of Greg Tracy, it kind of shows the ability and confidence the bike has on dirt.

Dont get me wrong, I love my XT, it does everything I bought it for extremely well, Sport touring and commuting. Such a fun bike!

Going off road from pavement? Thats why I lust for one of these...

Wow, that video brought back memories! I got there early one morning and I was the only one there. It was the week after the grand prix and and the skid marks going into the corners were still there. Traction control wasn't needed as long as you kept the revs low but at 5000 rpm in the dirt, hang on!
