Get one that says GOLDWING on it, that is the best anti theft system you can get. |

"Any advice on a good weatherproof outdoor cover for my Ulysses? Thx" Good question. Do not buy a cheap one as they never last and tend to leak. Get one that says it can take the UV of sunlight or it will fade and fall to bits in the end. One that breaths moister and air vents at the top of the cover is better. As are tie off loops on the bottom of the cover. You will need a large size. The main thing with a Uly is the right hand header pipe. If you put the cover on with it hot it will melt the cover. And yes you WILL forget not to do it one day sooner or later. Sticking on a layer of insulation inside the cover will stop this. |

I use cats. They seem to like a yellow Buell and lick it clean for me. On the other hand I wish they would not keep pissing on the bike. But that is pussy for you I guess? |

This is the one I have in XL size and I am happy with it: http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/14/71/971/141 8/ITEM/CoverMax-Deluxe-Motorcycle-Cover.aspx The X-large size fits perfectly with a large windscreen and the top case and side bags on . It also fits OK with them off. It must have some kind of protective coating because I never worried about the headers and it has not melted even though I don't wait for the bike to cool. Pros: 1) A tie strap you toss under the bike and tie it off so it won't lift up and blow away on windy days. 2) Some grommeted holes you can put a lock through on the bottom 3) A zippered carrying case. 4) Elastic around the bottom. 5) Some cloth material where the windscreen goes so you don't scratch it. 6) A little triangular down-facing vent which allows it to breath and not accumulate as much moisture when it rains. Cons: 1) It's hard to put on the bike, kind of like trying to put a fitted bed sheet on ... which way is the right way, etc. 2) The carry case zipper is a little tough to close. When I first purchased my Uly I used it every day, but lately have been lazy. Haven't used it for about six months. It has lasted pretty well and is pretty much like new. I have had it for I guess a couple years now. After writing all that I noticed most of it is in the product description, but oh well, I guess I have a little extra information and I am not deleting it after all that work . Anyway, I can say its a pretty good cover which I can recommend. |

Just looked at Djohnk's post. I have a smaller one of the same make, fits my 1125R but not the Uly. It is probably 5-6 years old and still in very good shape. Originally bought for my Shovelhead Wide-Glide. Z |

Thanks guys! I have no bags and probably won't get any. So I get the bigger one from Motorcycle Superstore, the XL. Then I have to get a screen printer to put Honda Gold Wing on it, right? Then I'm totally protected! Will get it this week, thanks! Great post Djohnk! |

If a bike cannot stand a bit of "weathering" then its not a good built bike. I only use a cover to help with security. Just me though. |

I'm 2 blocks from the beach, and don't want to test, but I agree, some rain and sun shouldn't hurt too much- its the salt I'm afraid of, and theft as well... |

I've been to bike week in Daytona many times and just one week in that salt air is tough on a bike. Don't blame you for covering it up!! Hey Froggy, nice to know you were listening to my story!! |

One warning: always make sure you have your front wheel turned to the kickstand side and the bike on the flat, if possible (know its not always possible). The tall profile of the Uly makes the cover in to a sail. I put my cover on one windy evening during a visit to Hilton Head (salty!) and as I was walking around it to make sure it was fully 'down', right in front of my eyes, the bike stood up off of the side stand slowly and began its descent on the throttle side. Thankfully, it was a slow-mo move and I caught it and repositioned it to prevent this happening again but it was a pucker moment for sure. I'm 6'3" and my suspension settings are 'up' so this isn't a concern usually but I can see where a little more sag in the suspenders on that long side stand coupled with the right gust while under the cover could result in a little |

I always do that with the front end, as well as minding the angle of the ground its sitting on while on the stand. Shocking how many people park with the crown of the road making their bikes almost vertical. I don't know if my settings are up yet, haven't played with that part, but I'm 6'5" and with Tootals new tall seat, my heels are slightly off the ground at stoplights- seems pretty high to me, but I LOVE IT LIKE THAT! I'm sure we're not the most aerodynamic riders going! |

I used to live and ride near the ocean she here is my recommendation. Make sure you do a good wash when you get home, especially the forward facing surfaces of all metal parts on the bike. |

I've also used the S100 corrosion prevention spray with great success on bikes (and other things), living in a coastal county. |
