Well all, As I posted in the last thread about weather or not to sell the Buell I posted pics and talked to a few about pricing and this and that and all the stars lined up and I am passing the buell along to the next Bad Weather Biker. I took a beating but made it up in the numbers game on paper. ON PAPER but not in the real world. Sighhhhhhhh. It really hurts when one dealer gives you what you need but then hammers the price of the new bike to make up for it. Worse thyan a car dealer. Wound up buying the 2012 Triumph Explorer 1200. Max Power 135 hp @ 9300 rpm, Max Torque 89 ft.-lbs @ 7850 rpm. Thats massive in my book. Weight is 570 lbs with 5.3 gallons on board. 539 dry. Same weight as the strom. The Uly was somewhere around 450 I think? So 100 lbs heavier. So if anyone knows ANYONE who wants to pick up my Uly for a decent price from a dealer, Call European Motorsports in Plano Texas and ask for Elvis. Wait till next week. They are closed on Mondays. What they gave me in trade was a killer in a bad way so someone can pick it up right. I am not gonna speculate but I think they think the strom is gonna make them some cash. I dunno? HAhahaa. I will post some pics later in the week and I still plan on haning in here. I may need to sell a few items like my HD cover up jacket but someone thats a biggon will love it. HAhahaaa. BDRAG |

Eulysses Ya know this may be the case. HAHaa. Its a project all over again. You may be right. Like a cruiser guy goes through what we call CROWTIS. CHROMITIS. HAHahha. Well I think part of WHY I did it was to get purge. Purge the Strom because it was 8 years old. We all know that bikes need things dome to them maintanence wise and the older they get the more ya SHOULD do, like fuel and brake lines. Brake lines. The way I ride if I EVER have a brake line fail I would be in a world of hurt. Now I know one can replace these for a very reasonable price and thats even going with steel braided lines which THE BUELL already has. I know, I KNOW! HAhahaa. One BIG factor is I am 53 now. In May, my wife lost the REAL DECENT job she had ( her position was eliminated). She found another job, went back where she worked 12 years ago so the bleeding stopped within 2 months but its also a 45% cut in pay! We have to have insurance and a steady income. So now between my little checks from my job and her new job we bring home less than she alone use to. SOooooooooo, I had my bike fund stash which due to the LACK of riding for the last few years has been steadily growing. I did not do two of my anual rides this year and that alone saved me quite a bit. The only problem is not much is being added now days with the pay cuts. Its hard to put a little away if its no longer there to put away. Now we are fine as far as finacials go but all the friviless spending has ground to a hault. Well sept for my stupid shit! AHhahaaaaa. So with the economey, prices going up and up on everything from GAS to FOOD to EVERYTHING I figgered if I have the ability to do a deal now that I should go ahead and do it. New stuff goes up and used stuff goes down in value. I spent a little more than I intended but who hasn't done that before? Now I will still need to spend on this and that for the new bike but its gonna give the MAGIVER side of me a work out since I am gonna be adapting my Krauser bags from the Strom instead of buying some of the BIG SQUARE box panners. Well for now anyway. I hope I see the STrom and the Buell around town. I do not feel bad for either bikes new owners if they get a decent deal on either bike. What the dealer gave me the bike for and the trade, there is room for the dealer to make money and the buyer to get a fair deal. I am the one who took the bullet! AHhahaaaaaa. So it is what it is. New bike itis, NEWBITIS? HAhahaa. I will still be around bubba. To many people I like reading about here. Marc |

I am sad to see it go, Bdrag! Errr! Maybe I should have given the offer I was thinking about but i didn't want to insult you. Dealers of any kind, I'm told, treat Uly's like totally unwanted objects but hey we're out here and we LOVE 'EM. You had a nice bike and some cool stuff. I should have pm'd ya'! Coulda, woulda, shoulda again, huh! LOL I understand your situation and moves, my friend, and I truly wish you both the very best, a drop in stress, and an increase in happiness! Please hang with us and share your riding stories. |

Buellerxt Hey, I sent you a PM. You really need to call me if you want it. The guy at the dealer said he would love to make a few quik bucks and not even have to put it on the books and he is ready to deal on it. You saw what I was asking right, He would take less than that for it. WITH ALL MY STUFF. I think he said he had planned on listing it for $6950 - $7000. So I take it would be less than that for sure. $5K on the wholesale market. If he finds a wholesaler who wants one. I love these, but the fact that a non HD dealer is looking at an obsolete bike on his books is not what they do. I don't finance anything, but if its a 2009 and we're in the 2013 model year, its 4 years old by dealer standards and they may not be able to get easy finance terms on it, so cash or a hardship case they'll run through a high risk/high interest loan company would be their answer. Not what they usually like to sit on stuff and wait for... |

Ferrisanyoneseenferris Ya know what sucks and is hard to belive is they think they will make more on an 8 year old Strom with 58 K on it than the Uly?????? The dealer was real happy with the buell when I dropped it off there today. Its in its black trim, tall shield and bagged up. I cleaned both bikes like they have never been cleaned before. The Buell looked brand new and the Strom looked like it only had 20K on the clock. HAhahaaaaa. If they get what they are gonna ask for the strom, that will mean the Strom held 50% of its sale value over the 8 years. WOW! AHhahaaa. As far as financing, One dealer I went to first said exactly what you are saying, hard to finance the Buell, The one I traded to says no issue with their company. Both say the strom is a viable bike for a walk in with cash. BDRAG Both bikes will make someone very happy. |

"Both say the strom is a viable bike for a walk in with cash." Pretty sad, but thats the mentality these days... |

Late now but? Always sell private and go to the dealer with the "cash in hand" for the very best deal. The reason you will get a low price if you "trade" your bike is because it costs them money to deal with it IE repairs, warranty or just the lose to pass it onto the trade/sale room. Its the same with any buy/sell situation. You pay more for your new bike to cover the loss to deal with your old one. Cash is King, makes it a buyers market for you and you hold all the "Aces". Always has been. |

Uly_man Yes, you are 100% correct. Its just that I am real lazy and just don't want to screw with all the ebay and Craigs list people calling, texting and so on at all hours. I can't be bothered at work and when I am off work I don't want the hassel. Now this is directed to ALL, The guy will sell cheap. I cn't say for sure but I think it will go as cheap as the low $6k figure. If ya know someone, CALL THEM! I feel bad for the bike. HAHhaa. Really. BDRAG |
