07 Ulysses, 55,000 miles, Ridden daily, Most mileage touring. Same symptoms as stretched cable. Replaced cable, tightened it as in the manual, started the bike, pulled in the clutch banged it into gear and had to hold the front brake to stop it moving. The clutch cable was loose. Readjusted, same thing, clutch cable seemed to loosen up. Went through several iterations of clutch adjusting screw and cable tightening with change in results. Even got adventuresome in experimenting with clutch adjusting screw with no real improvement. Any problems I have ever had with a clutch has resulted in the opposite symptoms. I have never encountered a clutch not wanting to disengage. My only conclusion is that I may have a some kind of problem with the pressure plate. Is this known problem? While I am at it I will replace the clutch itself. Is it better to go OEM or are there better quality after market parts? |

This is likely your bike's problem. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/327 77/692164.html?1347202755 |

if that's not your problem you probably need to rebuild the clutch. I had the same issue after the previous owner hadn't changed the primary lube since who knows when. Ended up ruining it before I discovered the old oil. I'd take it apart now before you wreck anything more in there. |

Thanks Guys. You nailed it. I would have never thought of that. I usually diagnose then order the parts. Would I ever have been surprised when I took it apart to replace the clutch parts. Every time I sought help and advice here its been dead on. Thanks |
