About 36,000 miles on my 06'. Fan still just fine. Really enjoying this bike. Any Honda that I've owned in the past felt used up by 30K miles but this bike feels tight as new. I'm pretty easy on this bike and never power spray it and maybe that is why I never seem to experience the electrical gremlins that others report. I just hand pump spray soapy water on parts and wipe clean but I usually just wait for it to rain. My bike is never anywhere near showroom clean, other's would just say "dirty" but it runs like a top always. My 06' hasn't even ever developed an oil seep anywhere. I just start up, mount and ride away. I warm it up by keeping under 3K rpm for a mile or so. Works for me. |

I still have my original fan in my 2006 Uly. It makes some funny sounds when I shut the bike off, but it still works. |

I just replaced mine at 50,000 miles. I was able to make it from western New York to Jacksonville Fl. with it failing intermittently trying not to put much strain on the motor. The fan failed completely in Georgia. I had replaced the fan fuse with a 15 amp one to keep it going. |

84K on my '06 and I just replaced the warrantied second fan that replaced the original. My bought-new '06 has had more problems than both my other new bikes put together. I'm gradually gathering up the parts to do an overhaul soon, was hoping to get to 100K first but the lifter noise (I'm told it's a lifter) that's been getting more annoying and gasket leaks are cutting that goal short. Still would never think of trading it, thought I'd want a new Explorer or Super Ten but every time I sit on one of those monsters I'm glad to get back on the Uly. |

just shy of 30k on my 06, stock fan (stock battery, too!). Fan has a bit of a rattle when running, but it's had that for the last 2 or 3 years. Last summer I stopped carrying my spare fan with me, because the rattle has never changed. |

My original fan outlasted my original engine (~30k miles), but I went ahead and changed it when I replaced the engine. |

Oil on the blades from a leak can kill them. It is a good idea to check nothing had got stuck in the cowl as well. I has been known to happen. "just shy of 30k on my 06, stock fan (stock battery, too!)." Cool. Ok so the bikes have a few faults/problems but I think the build quality is very good. Nothing is perfect though. |

Put a comfort kit on my 06, rarely hear the fan come on. |

"Put a comfort kit on my 06, rarely hear the fan come on." Does the engine run cooler now? |

Not perfect, but I don't poke stuff with a stick either. I don't pick my seals to "repack" my wheelbearings. I don't mess with stuff. I maintain by the book, no more, no less, and I repair as needed (so far, 2 belts in nearly 30k, and a '10 wheel at 25k miles). Upgrades are 07 fork springs, comfort kit, EBR computer, and some farkles like Buell heated grips, aux lights, HID headlight bulb... With the comfort kit, I don't know if it runs cooler or not...but it does (and always has) run well. Whatever I can do to prolong engine life...I'll do. Comfort kit fell into that category, definitely. |

"but I don't poke stuff with a stick either." Cool. If you own the bike you can do as you wish with it but I think many problems are caused by bad workmanship etc. I once came across a post from a guy asking if he should oil his belt. What the hell can you say to that one? |

The comfort kit keeps the rear head temp sensor cooler so the fan doesn't come on as often. Fan should last longer. Oil temps still get plenty hot though and that is confirmed by reading the EG Oil Temperature dipstick most every time I ride. Like most of us here, I use syn oil so the oil temps are easily in line with the abilities of syn oil to protect the moving parts. Overall I believe the Buell RSS is a good upgrade. |

I have the comfort kit on my '06, but I am pretty sure my fan runs just as much as it did before, i.e. all the time. |

The ECM probably has cracked solder joints. The old ECM did. It now has a brand new EBR ECM in it, but that hasn't changed the behavior of the fan any. The only time it isn't on is during the first 10 minutes or so before the engine warms up.} |
