I can't imagine how the BASKET is worn out on a 20k mile bike- that's crazy. I'd think the basket would last through 2 or 3 sets of disks, and those normally go more than 20k miles. Sorry I can't help you- I sold my spare (leftover from an engine swap) last year. |

Alright, no problem. The problem was the hub bearing seized up, which then spun it in the basket apparently. This thread says that the Sportster clutch is interchangeable with the Buell clutch as long as you don't use the spring washer... Is this true? If so I'll just buy a whole Sportster assembly! http://badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/32777/6 56038.html?1319375433 |

I'm interested in what you come up with Motoroil. I blew my clutch couple yrs ago and the dealer said they couldn't use the sportster clutch pack. Instead they ordered every little spring, washer, bearing for the buell clutch. I think I was dealing with a bunch of amatures(which makes sense after they butchered my bike) and they wanted to gouge another Bueller. I paid like $400 for all those clutch parts! I believe you can also get an aftermarket race quality clutch for our bikes to. |

The problem was the hub bearing seized up, which then spun it in the basket apparently. OK- that makes sense. I'd take the basket and a new bearing to a machine shop and have them make a sleeve to restore the fit for the bearing. Similar fixes have been done for spun wheel bearings too. It probably wouldn't cost that much (less than a new basket anyway) and would probably be as good as a new basket. |

Send Ericz a Pm, he was selling a clutch a bit back, can't remember if it was stock XB or aftermarket. I would believe Ericz on the sportster clutch fitment after seeing the work he has done to his turbo XB. (Message edited by nallac on July 03, 2012) |

Yeah, just not sure I want to have to bother getting a Sportster clutch pack everytime I need one in the future... But its looking like my only option at this point. |

Yep, Al doesn't stock them, and eBay doesn't have any at the moment... Ended up buying an entire Sportster Clutch basket, clutches, spring, etc, ready to bolt on for $150. Now I just gotta decide if I have the shop replace the bearing, clutches, and steels, before they bolt the thing on. |

So not sure if this will show up in anything but the archives, but its been 6 weeks since the bike went down... Still waiting on parts... This is BS. The shop is telling me that they are waiting for a race that is behind the clutch, not in the clutch basket itself. Make sense to anyone? Anyone happen to have a PN since the shop is too lazy to tell it too me? |

I'll see if I can scrounge up the list of parts that I just had replaced. I started with just a simple clutch pack and set of seals from A.S.B. but once the guy got in there he also told me the hub and various bearings were also trashed. I got his verbal descriptions of everything and then called Southside HD in Indianapolis (317) 885-5180 for the stuff Al didn't have ... at the mechanics suggestion. They were pretty helpful & I believe they had everything else in the mail within a couple of days. If I can find the list of parts & #s I will add them to the thread. |

The basics for my repairs came off of the list out on A.S.B. for everything required when doing a clutch pack replacement. The extra stuff the mechanic had me order was: 37898-02 clutch hub 37909-90 clutch hub snap ring 37908-90 bearing snap ring 37892-02 race (I think) 9214 needle bearing I did end up having a part left over when everything was said and done. I would recommend calling Southside harley and getting someone who can help you with Buell parts. |
