Hi, A friends bike woulden't start, after a bit of search that the neutral light would only come on when the lever was pulled in, holding the lever. Would allow the bike to start, any thoughts on how to solve this situation? Thanks |

That sounds like the diode is in the wrong way. The diode is there to prevent the clutch switch providing a return for the neutral light. If the diode is in the wrong way it will then prevent the neutral switch proving the 'normal' return for the start relay. However, the symptoms you describe would seem to suggest the neutral switch isn't connected or is faulty as well because it should still light the neutral light with the diode reversed. You can't hurt anything by switching it around to try - if I recall the '06 owners manual has the diagram wrong for the diode? (I might be imagining that). |

Rays, you are correct, the 06 manual is very wrong about that diode in the picture. It fooled me once. Pontlee, I'd say that his neutral sensor is messed up. But why does it light up when you pull in the clutch? That's a good one. Forget about the light for now and concentrate on the neutral switch would be my first shot. |
