I bought a used windscreen to replace the one on my bike now. The current one has spider cracks that are growing around the mount holes. I am using a adjustable Palmer bracket by the way. I assume that the Previous owner had overtightened the fasteners to start this problem.... SO... I have this replacement screen, it has these rubber mounting pieces in it, they seem fairly tight. I don't want to crack or stress this one so I thought I'd ask alla yinz whats a safe way to remove these rubber mounts, and how to install this on Palmer brackets without cracking or otherwise destroying the windscreen. Some pics for clarity.

Early in my Uly ownership I tried a couple of different screens and swapped them back and forth a bit. I should have just bought a set of the rubber mounts for each shield in the first place, but I didn't. As a result, I pushed them out several times. It wasn't easy, but I didn't damage either shield. I ended up with the Palmer brackets though, and so when I installed that, I just cut them off with a sharp knife and tossed them. Much easier and what I'd recommend for you. |

They just push right out with some force, I did it a few weeks ago. |

Thanks for the replies. The rubber pieces are out, came out without much fuss. Now, does anyone have any tips on installing it without cracking it? I was thinking maybe find some O Rings to cushion the windshield between the fastener and the bracket? hmmmm? |

I just installed mine with the hardware from Palmer. It didn't crack. |

I used the hardware that Palmer provided, no cracks, and that was even after several years of abuse and hitting a car hard enough to shatter the windscreen. The slightly bent brackets are on my XT right now. |

Ok, thanks for the replies. I will take care not crack it. I am just a little gunshy because the Previous owner cracked all 4 holes when installing it. |
