Having newly acquired a Uly, wanting to be proactive and relocate the EBR ECM before it gets damaged. Would appreciate "how to" etc. regarding location, anchoring etc. thanks. | ||

I slotted my ECM between the battery and the fuse block. If you modify the battery box just a little, you can make room enough for the ECM and put in in a place where it is not subject to cracking. If you search for other relocate threads you will find pictures. bb | ||

Our re-locator bracket is hiding right on the Uly! I cut the stock factory mounting boss off the battery box with a cut-off wheel and mounted that on the shock res. bolt. Angle is perfect. I didn't leave quite enough metal on the bracket I removed so I had to weld a washer to it. If you cut where I have marked in the picture it will have plenty of length to drill a hole in. I put some 2 sided foam tape on the part that rests against the battery box.   | ||

Some elegant solutions, but how about a little bit simpler engineering for us temporally challenged folks and just cut a bit out of the seat pan at point of contact? | ||

I removed the OEM bracket. Wrapped the ECM in silicone foam rubber and set it down in the pocket directly below the original location. It is well out of the way. 10K miles with no problems. | ||

I'll be doing this tomorrow. Started to disassemble it tonight, and don't have the proper torx head(or whatever it is) to take the battery box out, and no small enough cut off wheels to do it in place. I'll get one of the two tomorrow. I'll add pictures when I"m done as well. | ||

project done. Easy and cheap, my kind of project.   bracket cut off and relocated  One note of caution. I first did it cutting the bracket as indicated on the post above, drilled the mounting hole at the end and put it all together. Doing the playdoh test, I saw my seat pan was rubbing against the top of the ecm. I ended up redrilling the bracket, and making sure the ecm was mounted as low as possible. This gained me just enough to keep the seat from touching it.  Since the ecm is now closer to the rail the seat sits on, the rib on the bottom of the seat goes directly over the top of it. To further help the cause, I put a relief in the bottom of the seat pan right where the ecm sits as well. This gives me a good 1/4" clearance doing the playdoh test.   Next project is putting the upgraded clutch cable retainer, and steering head throttle cable guard on. I just have to find a throttle cable guard. | ||

So did the ECM relocate. But not sure I am getting same (desired) results as those seen the pics above. Here is mine  It appears others are somehow getting the ECM further down between the battery tray and shock reservoir? Not sure how that is possible as there isnt any room to do this on my bike... strange. Also, isnt there any concern about the back of the ECM resting/pushing on the shock reservoir? Cut off the old bracket so there is no turning back now |
