I lost my left leg this year. I think I can ride a Ulysses if I adapt the shifting. Anyone tried one of these? | ||

I think that you have to manually engage the first gear. Sorry to hear about your leg, but i'm glad to hear that it wont stop you riding, if for any reason you don't see a good way to ride, try looking at a Vespa with its hand clutch and gear box, sure is just a scooter, but the big engine one is dam fast. | ||

I will be picking up an 06 Ulysses next week. I'm pretty confident on being able to adapt either myself or the bike. | ||

Would take some doing. There appears to be enough room under the engine to maybe adapt a right side shift lever. | ||

The tranny splines are the same as those of a sportster, I think. I would think that since there are so many more evo sporties out there, you may want to persue a kit for them and see if it can be adapted. Also, It's awesome that you refuse to quit! | ||

What kind of prosthetic are you going to wear for ULY use? I am sure getting back on the ULY has or will brighten your outlook on life in general. Just two days ago I decided to get back on the ULY after recovering (enough)from shoulder surgery that I had back on March 20th. Yesterday I road around town and it sure felt good. I still have a very weak left shoulder but it seems to have no problem controlling the bike so long as I don't get myself in a sticky situation. Anyway, I'm sure you will adjust just fine and enjoy the heck out of riding again. Let us know how it goes or is going. And don't let anyone talk you out of riding. Most non-riders think that motorcycles are daredevils or something. I feel every bit at home on a bike as I do in a car and I'm sure most long time bikers will admit to the same. Have fun. |
