I installed Memphis Shades Lowers back in February when the bike came out from its winter's nap. They made me very happy. Gone was the arctic blast under the chin, and bobble-head over 100km/hr. The shades, combined with a Madstad screen made the bike very comfortable and easy to ride with the visor up. To install the shades so they would be placed properly, the clamps had to be near the top of the forks. The edge of the clamp would catch the clutch cable as it passed on a full-lock turn. I knew it was bad news, but I made a mental note to figure something out sooner than later. Out of sight was out of mind, and I finally got around to taking care of it the other day. A dollar short and a day late:  I ended up sliding the clamps down where they wouldn't hurt anything. Thanks, Dtaylor. I have had them for a couple of years and I went out and checked. Sure enough, I have a little rubber rubbed off the outer sheath do to that clamp. I am going to have a machinist friend check it out and see if maybe grinding down the edges of that clamp, and possibly the screw, would stop it. Thanks for posting on it. I haven't pulled them off since installing them and I've wondered if I'd like it better in warmer months without them. I think I'll try that. Gas mileage may even improve, or not!  | ||

How far would you say you moved the clamp down? I estimate from the picture about 3 inches? |
