I just agreed to purchase a 2006 Uly with 29,000 miles It's all stock as far as I know, except for the tires, which are performance street tires (she'll be getting her dual sport shoes back once I wear out the street tires). I should be picking it up next weekend. I'm upgrading from a 1993 Yamaha TDM 850. Anyhow, just wanted to say hi. |

Welcome to the madness, Jeff. You are in the right place for some great info on these bikes. Be sure to check out the new owners info link located at the top of the main "big bad and dirty page". |

I hate to sell the TDM, but sell it I must. I just bought it a year ago. I was looking for a Ulysses at that time, but I wasn't finding any in my price range, and along came the TDM well under my budget, so I snatched it up. Last Friday I just randomly decided to check Craigslist, and there was a new listing for a 2006, 2 owners, 29,000 miles, for $4100. It seemed like a good bike so my wife and I went to look at it. It's in good condition, I couldn't find anything wrong with it, other than oil changes the current owner takes it to the dealer for everything. I really didn't want to part with my TDM so I was going to pass on the Ulysses, but it was at my wife's urging that I decided to buy it. She kept saying "you've been talking about this bike for 5 years, it's the one you really want, just buy it". So I did. But I don't need two bikes, and our first kid is on the way, so I'm selling the TDM. I don't have a picture of the Uly yet, so here is one of the TDM.

I hope you know how lucky you are because if not I will have both. |

Oh and the TDM is a good bike so I may just as well have that at the same time? I may be getting a bit greedy here, LOL. (Message edited by uly_man on May 11, 2012) |

I didn't come here to try and sell my TDM, but since Prowler brought it up, here is a link to my craigslist ad. If this isn't cool, then someone say something and I'll remove it. http://reno.craigslist.org/mcy/2995672620.html I know I'm kinda high on my asking price, but it's negotiable. As far as delivery goes, it depends on the distance and how much you want to pay. My suburban with it's 8.1 liter averages about 11MPG, so it could get expensive. |

Congrats on your new Uly! I put more miles on my first Uly, an 06, than any bike I have ever owned. I'm now on my second Uly, an 08. Hope you enjoy it. Badwebbers will do their best to help if you run into any problems. |

Never piloted a TDM, but know the wife will love the pillion on the Uly..........maybe that's why she approved. Congrats and welcome to the madness..... |

The pillion definitely was part of her enthusiasm for the bike. The TDM seat was mediocre stock. The Corbin seat was great for me, but because it has a sculpted seating area, it gives her a very defined seating area with little room to move, and with the top case she has very limited seating room. The Uly has much more room for her, even with the triple tail in the backrest position. Since she's pregnant and growing a belly, she really didn't fit on the TDM any more. She has more than enough room on the Ulysses even with her big belly, and she loves riding along with me too much to give it up, so yes, her encouragement for me was somewhat self-serving. |

The Buell has landed! Here is the Buell next to my TDM850.
And another picture:
I rode it for about 20 miles today and I'm really not sure what my initial reservations were when I fist went and looked at it, because this bike is awesome. I think part of it was the minimalist nature of the body work, no fairings at all and short windshield left me worried that the wind would make for an uncomfortable ride, but it's actually better than the TDM. It gets windy here in northern Nevada, and there is less buffeting and gets blown around in the wind less than the TDM. My wife's favorite part is that there is room for her big pregnant belly. On a less excited note, it has some minor issues with the way it runs, but I'm not going to concern myself with that until I get the TPS reset. Hopefully I'll have the USB cable within a few weeks. Also, I didn't notice this when I went and looked at it, but the right fork seal is leaking. I hate doing fork seals, but oh well. |

Also, when I went and looked at it, I was surprised by how loud it was with the stock muffler. I didn't realize that the muffler has been modified by the guy that reconfigures them with dual outlets. |

Congrats! Welcome to Uly ownership. The TeDiuM is a nice bike too as my brother used to own one and raved about how smooth the engine is. His was red and met an unhappy ending. GLWS |
