I have consistently made in the mid to upper 40's for mpg. Then last week I had two little trips and the mileage went to the mid to low 30's; and this was on two lane 65 mph roads. I noticed that when I shut the Uly off there was a strong gasoline odor. I hope to get some time this next week to do some looking; but anyone have any idea of where I should start looking. It is a 2008 X with 36,000 miles on it. |

I would start looking in the area of the fuel pump, hoses, and under the air box base for leaks also around the fuel breather near the fuel cap. |

Larger percentage of alcohol in the fuel? Grab some E85 maybe? |

If you think it's a leak, you should be able to detect it pretty easily if you let it idle in one spot for a while. If it doesn't end up being a leak, perhaps a temp sensor is telling fibs to the ECU and your "choke" is on. |
